Job Name: Public Safety Technical Consultant (Solution Engineer)
Job Purpose: Leads the technical sales and quoting process with a coordinated focus on solution development through customer discussions and education, discovery and requirements gathering, validation and quoting.
Main Responsibilities and Deliverables:
- Provide technical and functional expertise to support the Public Safety sales account executive throughout the sales process.
- Execute technical discovery in support of the sales Excite/Discovery process to ensure proper expectations and accurate quoting of NICE solutions.
- Identify technical risks and assist in overcoming limitations to ensure mutually beneficial outcomes in complex situations.
- Responsibility for the technical aspects of the sales process
- Preparation of accurate solution quotations
- Provision of technical consultancy services
- Preparation of accurate and detailed proposals & presentations in response to RFPs and customers' requests
- Lead technical discussions with third party vendors and coordinate Product Management involvement as/when required.
- Support regional partners with technical design and channel relationships.
- Proactively build, develop and maintain technical engagement relationships with both end users and business partners.
- Occasional travel to customer sites for technical sales support activities
- Complete detailed documentation to facilitate accurate sales to service handover for installation and project management services.
- Review orders for technical accuracy.
- Use internal systems to track, quote and document deliverables in support of the Public Safety Sales team.
- Actively support management team activities as needed in support of meeting annual targets.
- Presentation and demo of Public Safety products & applications if needed.
Qualifications / Education:
- Minimum 5-years of combined experience spanning both technical presales Sales Engineer/specialist or technical solution business consultant, and Business Analyst, ideally in Public Safety
- Bachelor's degree in computer sciences or related business or technical discipline
- Collaborative approach to sales that includes working with multiple groups both internally and externally.
- Strong ability to communicate professionally with customers on Technical Solutions and i3 initiatives.
- Must have the ability to learn quickly and assimilate technical and functional knowledge of NICE product solutions.
- Proven technical background preferably in one or more of the following: NENA NG911 i3, IP telephony, Azure cloud, web applications, virtualization, trunk radio, networking, security.
- Technical/Networking knowledge in the following fields:
- Data / Infrastructure
- SQL databases
- Azure web services
- Security
- Ethernet
- LAN/MAN/WAN
- Network security and Firewalls.
- XML and Web services
- Voice
- Knowledge and experience in design, testing and/or implementation of leading 9-1-1 infrastructure (telephony, CAD, RMS, or similar)
- Experience with integration of multiple technology driven products or platform.
- Self-sufficient, and likes to be given end objectives with flexibility to take ownership and manage activities & processes to achieve results.
- Ability to deliver against tight timelines with drive for Customer Focus and satisfaction.
- Ability to relate technology to business issues/challenges and translate to business/operational benefits.
- Individuals must be highly motivated with excellent communication (verbal/written) and presentations skills.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Salesforce.com
- Must be a strong team player.
- Ability to work well under pressure, priorities and meet external and internal deadlines.
- Experience in consultative tasks associated with Public Safety design preferred.
- Willing to travel 25-50%
