Key purpose of the role is to be DAZN’s subject matter expert in the design and deployment of the Broadcast systems that underpin all DAZN’s Broadcast operations.
As one of the leading Sports broadcasters in the world DAZN broadcasts thousands of live events every year to our global audience. In this role you will be responsible for the design and deployment and evolution of our broadcast systems deployed both on premise at our broadcast centre in Leeds and in public cloud environments.
As the business scales we need to evolve and automate our systems to support that growth without having to scale in a linear fashion. We also need to orchestrate our public cloud deployments to optimise their efficiency and meet the needs of the business. We are looking for someone with a proven track record working in a modern broadcast environment, who has a strong vision for the future of the industry and the technology to support that change.

AS OUR NEW PRINCIPAL BROADCAST ENGINEER YOU’LL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:
- Lead by example by being hands-on and working with our teams to deliver high quality, high availability, well architect systems.
- Partner with Product, Broadcast and Network Engineering, Security, and Software Engineering teams to guide projects from solution design through operational acceptance into production and to live support.
- Ensure we stay ahead of a fast-paced industry; identifying new technologies, tools, frameworks, concepts and producing prototypes to demonstrate how they will benefit DAZN.
- Help shape and define the technology strategy across DAZN’s broadcast workflows.
- Coach and mentor Broadcast Engineers; fostering an environment of high performance and continual learning across our engineering teams.
- Perform rapid impact assessments and sizing on project demand.
- Act as a technical stakeholder for new projects as they flow through the business initiatives to well architected solutions .
YOU’LL HAVE:
- Extensive experience leading the technical direction of high performing engineering teams preferably in roles such as a either a Tech Lead or Principal Engineer.
- In-depth knowledge of broadcast technologies from content acquisition, through production and playout, and delivery to OTT encoding and distribution platforms,
- Experience in both traditional broadcast and in public/private cloud-based environments.
- Strong knowledge of automation, control, and orchestration systems.
- Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining broadcast solutions at scale in a hybrid cloud environment with hard requirements of low-latency, high-availability, and scalability.
- Expert in maintaining live services at scale by measuring and monitoring system health.
- Strong business judgement with proven ability to influence stakeholder and strong analytical thinking.
