What we do:
The Sr. Landing Gear Engineer is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and verification of landing gear, brake, brake control systems for the certified production aircraft. The position leads the Landing Gear Systems Group as well as communicates with management and other teams across the organization (e.g., Procurement, Supply Chain, external supplies, etc.). Within engineering, the Landing Gear Systems Group closely works with other groups within Flight Controls & Actuation, Energy Storage Systems, and Airframe departments.
This position will be required to work on-site 5 days a week.
What you can do:
- Serve as the subject matter expert and design, implement, verify, qualify, and integrate the aircraft landing gear, brake, and brake control systems
- Provide technical support for the development of the landing gear system and integration with associated systems
- Collaborate with other aircraft teams to develop and define functional interfaces and architectures, develop requirements, define verification methods, validate systems, and support aircraft development through system checkout and flight test
- Manage supplier/partner for the landing gear system, including program schedule development, project management, cost and schedule status, resource management and system integration
- Work with Supply Chain and Procurement for commercial off the shelf and supplier sourced equipment and systems
- Support ground loads development, shimmy analysis, flotation analysis, stress and fatigue analysis, ground support equipment, and ground handling modeling
- Develop and execute test plans and guide the integration, verification, validation, and documentation of requirements through the system development cycle
- Responsible for design and drawing release activities
- Requires up to 25% of domestic and international travel
- Other duties as assigned
What you can contribute:
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or related engineering field required; Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of directly applicable experience including development and qualification of Landing Gear systems (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience with CAD modeling in Catia V5/V6 or equivalent systems
- Ability to effectively lead supplier and product development efforts
- Familiarity with ARP 4754A/B and development of systems on commercial aircraft
- Familiarity with ARP 4761 and system safety process
- Familiarity with FAA aircraft certification process for Part 23, 25, 27, 29, or similar; including, DO-160G, DO-178C, and DO-254
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proactive delivery of communication and follow up
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Must have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints
- Self-motivated and able to work in new and challenging situations
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite
You may also be able to contribute:
- Experience working in aviation industry and working with regulatory agencies preferred
