This position will be within Fluence’s software engineering team working on the
Nispera Asset Performance Management (APM) platform. You will focus on developing fleet control functionalities for battery storage and extend the functionality to cover wind and solar power plants at a later stage. Besides hands-on software development, you will also act as the go-to-person for industrial control systems within the product development team.
What does a Software Engineer, Fleet Control do at Fluence?
- Serve as the controls expert in a team developing integrations with control systems.
- Work together with product managers to translate functional product specifications to software requirement specifications.
- Design, implement, document and maintain connectors to industrial control and SCADA systems for large scale battery storage and wind and solar power plants.
- Model and cultivate a culture of inclusivity, trust, exceptional communication, collaboration, respect, continuous learning, and enthusiasm for our work.
What does the ideal candidate look like?
- BSc or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Controls Systems or a closely related field
- 5+ years of professional working experience in software development [ZA<ASE1]
- Skilled in Python development with the ability to develop services with automated unit testing.
- Hands on experience in working with industrial SCADA and control systems.
- Experience in industrial protocols [ZA2] like Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850 and MQTT
- Familiarity with power generation and/or grid level control systems
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
