Job Description
Job Summary
This position supports the outside sales engineers by identifying, quoting and following up on power generation projects located on bid/spec lead services. It uses a technical understanding of power generation plans and specifications and the understanding of the bid/spec process to help identify all bidders, engineers and owners to increase market penetration and, ultimately, market share for ACF Standby System products. It also serves as a technical resource to the outside sales engineers for submittal preparation and responses to comments.
Essential Job Functions
- Review lead sources (Dodge, iSqFt, Govwin, Demandstar, etc) and identify all projects in company territory with power generation equipment
- Assist outside sales team to identify all contractor firms bidding the project with power generation equipment
- Identify approved suppliers and assist the outside sales team to ensure ACF products are approved in the specification
- Strategize with sales team for VE solutions on respective projects
- Track project status and relay to outside sales team
- Prepare submittals and review/address comments from engineer of record
- Assist sales team with follow up and review of project, including engineer of record and bidders to secure relations with those parties for future business
- Maintain updated understanding of industry trends, technical developments, and government regulations that effect target markets
- Resolve customer problems with product and/or services during the installation and commissioning phase of the project
- Assist Project Management team with technical issues and process flow
Additional Job Functions
- Assist Outside Sales team with engineering and customer presentations, on occasion
- Assist with Trade Show scheduling, setup, tear down and attendance
- Assist Sales team to meet established sales quotas and revenue goals
- Establish and maintain a teamwork approach with of aftermarket products and service departments in order to develop and maintain customer loyalty
Experience and Skills
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (including physical and work environment)
- Understanding of the bid/spec process
- Technical understanding of power generation systems
- Computer literacy is required, including a working knowledge of applications such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to establish a solid relationship with manufacturer
- Proven interpersonal skills with both internal and external customers
- Basic marketing knowledge
- Must be able to handle high pressure situations and adapt well to changes in the market
Minimum Job Qualifications (education, work experience, licenses/certifications)
- Bachelor's degree (preferably in Engineering) or 3 to 5 years of sales experience in the bid/spec construction market (preferably in power generation), or an equivalent combination of education and experience in the power generation industry
