Job Description Qualifications:
The Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking Senior Propulsion Systems Engineers to support our Propulsion Engine Controls and Thrust Reverser Systems team based in Everett, Washington.
As a successful candidate for this position, you will leverage prior engineering experience and knowledge with engine controls systems or thrust reverser controls or similar actuation systems on commercial aircraft. You will advise as to the design, integration and certification of the engine or thrust reverser system control on new development programs as well as existing fleet including 737, 767, 777 and 787 airplane models. You will support the authoring of certification documents such as equipment qualification test, and certification test plans/reports/summaries, system safety assessments, and system description documentation. You will test control software, coordinate with suppliers and provide technical solutions to airplane customer issues.
Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Senior Propulsion Systems Engineers (Level 5 and Level 6)
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
Position Responsibilities:
Advises airplane development projects and the current Boeing in-service fleet.
Develops and coordinates Engine Control system work statement.
Analyzes, prioritizes, plans, tracks, controls risk, and implements technical solutions.
Coordinates internally to meet system and airplane requirements across multiple functions.
Tests software and analyzes results.
Collaborates on certification of the engine control and thrust reverser systems.
Addresses and investigates fleet and production issues related to the Engine Control and Thrust Reverser System.
Provides support for safety and compliance investigations.
Manages and prioritizes multiple tasks in support of certification and airplane delivery schedules.
Communicates project status, risks, issues, and opportunities to Propulsion and Program Leadership.
This position is eligible for consideration for the Boeing Engineering Technical Fellowship program. Prospective candidates wishing to pursue an application to the program will be required to submit additional documentation of their professional qualifications, subject to review by a designated Technical Fellowship program review board.
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics
10 or more years of experience in commercial aerospace Engineering or equivalent engineering work experience
5 or more years of experience in Engine and/or propulsion control systems design, development, and certification.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Qualifications as US Federal Aviation Administration Unit Member(ODA-UM) or Designated Engineering Representative (DER)
Experience in product and operational Safety Management Systems (SMS)
Knowledge of Part 33 and Part 25 Federal Airworthiness Regulation (FAR) compliance for propulsion systems.
Experience with Engineering requirements development and design assurance
Experience with System Failure Hazard Assessments (FHA) and System Safety Assessments (SSA)
Typical Education/Experience:
Senior (Level 5):
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
Senior (Level 6):
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 20 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+15 years' related work experience, Master+18 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range Senior (Level 5): $147,900 - $200,100
Summary pay range Senior (Level 6): $181,900 - $246-100
