Senior Reliability Engineer
As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer you will work on the end to end deployment (source code to production) of critical infrastructure across a variety of application teams for our flagship cloud hosted APIs and EMR big data processing environments.
The Senior Site Reliability Engineer will work on our highly trafficked and highly available systems, leveraging system engineering / programming and debugging expertise to implement and enhance auto-detection & auto-remediation tools and processes, and will take ownership of production uptime and stability.
This person will work closely with other developers, system administrators and project managers. Responsibilities include but are not limited to agile development, improving existing infrastructure design, and providing production support.
As part of the Match team, you’ll:
- Identify and implement continuous improvements to reduce mean time of delivery, antifragile design, and security posture.
- Plan, implement, and release production changes using zero-downtime techniques.
- Work constructively with development teams to ensure they deliver high quality easily maintained software releases.
- Empower engineers to contribute changes to infrastructure by pairing, supporting and mentoring
- Conduct root cause analysis and identify relationships between processes and events.
- Perform ongoing design and code reviews.
- Participate on 24x7 on-call rotation (weekly rotation, primary/secondary)
- Improve the whole lifecycle of services from inception and design, through deployment, operation, and refinement.
- Manage support services before they go live through activities such as system design consulting, developing software platforms and frameworks, capacity planning, and launch reviews.
- Provide guidance to other team members on managing availability and performance of mission critical services, on building automation to prevent problem recurrence, and on building automated responses for non-exceptional service conditions.
- Maintain services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health. Lead sustainable incident response and blameless postmortems.
- Identifying improvement by bringing automation, best practices
About you:
- 5+ years of demonstrated DevOps experience focusing on configuration as code.
- Experience programming with Python/Java, and/or the ability and interest to learn, is required.
- Good understanding of Unix/Linux networking and operating systems
- Strong experience with configuration management tools (SaltStack, Ansible)
- Prior experience managing production cloud infrastructure at scale (AWS, GCP)
- Working knowledge of infrastructure as code concepts and tools
- Working knowledge of CI/CD implementation best practices (Jenkins, Harness)
- Knowledge of common security concerns and best practices (threat modeling, blast radius, hardening, penetration testing)
- Exposure to Elastic search, SPARK/EMR, APIGEE gateway
- MS/BS in Computer Science or a related field
