The primary responsibility of the Specialty Benefits Small Business Account Executive is to work with the AE/SAE to promote specialty product sales and persistency in the marketplace. The AE will be accountable for delivering the specialty sales goal for the assigned market and will be involved in external marketing and be a subject matter expert to promote specialty employer paid and voluntary products. These positions will be aligned with the market segment, defined as 51 to 99 lives.
This role is focused on external and internal activities to support the specialty sales goal including: Being responsible for full oversight of the specialty sale at the direction of the AE/SAE to achieve health plan market sales goals and maintain profitability. Advocate for specialty voluntary products to support increase in enrollment and size of sale and negotiate based on broker/customer feedback with underwriting; leveraging rate bank, product discount programs and packaged savings to leverage the best value to the customer. Consult with AE/RAC/SAE on strategy calls related to specialty products and process and develop and/or deliver finalist and large broker presentations as specialty subject matter expert.
Primary Responsibilities: Small Business Sales (51-99): - Create and drive strategies for top specialty producing agencies and Brokers
- Collaborate with Sales Management and/or Health Plan leadership regarding pipeline, persistency, market objectives and develop competitive strategies with specific Brokers/General Agents
- Work collaboratively with AE/RAC/SAE to support sales, product and process education, and training on employer paid and voluntary specialty products. This position works collaboratively with Generalist AE on external sales calls representing ancillary product offerings
- Conduit for communication on specialty topics including marketing initiatives that AE/RAC/SAE should be promoting (i.e. product updates, bonus programs, rate cards, drip marketing, etc.)
- Educates sales support on quoting plan designs & product pre-implementation
- Develop business relationships with AE/RAC/SAE as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor in order to increase specialty sales
- Assisting AE/RAC/SAE in developing sales proposals, including anticipating competing products and distinguishing UHC's products from those competing products
- Maintain Specialty product Knowledge, including all products sold in their market segment, including competitive products; applies independent judgment to recommend products for a given customer's situation
Key Account Business Development (100-5000): - Support new Key Account Specialty business sales and Specialty new business existing account efforts. These functions include support from new business - pre sale through installation. Work closely with Sales and Account Mgmt team to maintain operational infrastructure supporting quoting Specialty business
- Perform analysis to identify missing information / data and work with Specialty AE, Medical AE/SAE and brokers to obtain required information. Complete the Request for Proposal in a timely manner. Perform all needed steps for proper and satisfactory implementation on new ancillary only business via the ROAR process
- Run reports daily/weekly to identify new opportunities and review each RFP to identify correct information provided. Submit implementation requests and work with IM Managers. Provide support to underwriters when needed. Create all NCEA opportunities into Solaris for the Orlando area. Assist AE with reporting and presentations, helping to create presentations for broker meetings
- Work closely with sales teams to close out opportunities in Solaris on a weekly basis. Maintain error free Solaris opportunities and clean up
- Maintain sales reporting spreadsheet, assuring all ancillary sales are documented and annual premiums are calculated correctly. Provide document to leadership monthly, noting additional sales
- Work as a liaison between specialty underwriting, rating, Specialty Account Executive and Medical Account Executive's/SAE's and the agencies to establish a solid relationship in the 100+ marketplace
- Complete and submit all new business paperwork (working closely with medical Specialty AE, AE and SAE) to Underwriting to obtain specialty underwriting approval form, benefit summaries and Ubundle paperwork (when applicable). Make onboarding a positive experience by ensuring billing, plan documents and summaries are correct the first time when providing to Specialty AE, Medical AE and Strategic Account Executives and agents. to insure nothing is missed upon implementation and onboarding

Required Qualifications: - Sales insurance license(s) or willing to obtain within 30 days
- 2+ years of experience in sales or account management in the insurance industry. Existing broker and/or consultant relationships in the marketplace
- Relationship Building and Influence experience
- Proven ability to understand underwriting, financial and analytical details as necessary
- Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding sales goals, particularly with specialty products
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate and close sales
- Demonstrated ability to navigate UnitedHealthcare internal departments to produce positive service results for clients and the company
Preferred Qualifications: - Sales or account management experience in the insurance industry with specialty products
- Demonstrated very solid organizational skills to balance multiple priorities, objectives and customer obligations and time management skills critical to success
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain solid client and producer relationships; customer focused approach
- Proven solid communication skills (written and verbal)
- Proven solid presentation skills
