Principal Electrical Engineer to work on custom engineering opportunities that enable the sale of standard NI Products. The primary responsibilities of this position are to work with NI customers, sales personnel, engineering teams, alliance partners, and contract manufacturers to define, document, design, deploy and sustain NI products tailored to meet specific customer requirements for large scale turnkey engineering solutions. The ideal candidate has experience and knowledge regarding NI products and system level design.
Core Job Responsibilities: This is a multi functional role dealing with diverse engineering needs, including the ability to gather requirements, generate specification documents, and interface with alliance partners, contract manufacturers and internal personnel to design, deploy and sustain custom solutions worldwide. This is a high visibility role within NI requiring daily interaction with NI customers, NI Alliance Partners, NI Sales Teams, NI Engineering Teams, and Executive Management. The role will include:
Interacting with a wide variety of NI customers, NI staff, external alliance partners and suppliers in support of designing, implementing and sustaining of custom solutions
Generating requirements documents, statements of work and Bills of Materials
Defining and implementing project plans, managing milestones and holding reviews to assure systems meet requirements and readiness for deployment
Specifying, designing, prototyping, testing, and deploying turnkey automated solutions
Directing support personnel, managing project technical deliverables, guiding technical decisions and driving field found issues to resolution
Traveling as needed (possibly up to 25%) domestically and abroad in support of project objectives
Experience and Skill Requirements: Minimum Requirements: - B. S. Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics or Electronics Engineering Technology
- Minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience in a Hardware Systems Design Role or a Test Engineering Design Role
- US Person (US Citizen or Green Card ) ONLY, ability to work on ITAR projects and qualify for DoD Clearances
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering, electronics & computer architectures
- Understanding of high-level programming languages (LabVIEW, TestStand, C/C++/C#)
- Demonstrated understanding of the following concepts and principles:
- Sources of measurement error
- Appropriate selection of test and measurement instrumentation and equipment
- Understanding of schematics and wiring diagrams
- Integration of hardware and software
- Bill of Materials creation and review
- Familiarity with CAD and PCB design tools
- Statistical analysis of data (Cp, Cpk, GR&R)
- Cable Harness Design
Preferred Skills: - Hands on use of schematic capture tools and PCB design tools
- Knowledge in Component Supplier Selection
- Knowledge in Compliance Certifications (CE, UL, TUV, Etc.)
- Hands on use of NI Hardware Platforms and Instruments
- Hands on use of NI LabVIEW and Test Stand
