ROLE SUMMARY
Pfizer CentreOne is a global contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) embedded within Pfizer, delivering over $1B+ in revenue in 2021. Pfizer CentreOne reports into the Chief Business & Innovation Office (CBIO).
Pfizer CentreOne leverages Pfizer manufacturing plants as well as science and technology resources to manufacture medicine for biopharmaceutical companies. Pfizer CentreOne focusses on active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) synthesis, drug products (sterile injectable fill-finish and oral solids) and is a lead supplier of steroid and hormone APIs and intermediates. For almost 50 years, Pfizer CentreOnes’ dedicated team of contract manufacturing experts has been guiding our partners’ drugs safely from development to commercial manufacture.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
As Senior Sales Manager you will:
Identify and pursue new leads and business opportunities, while also ensuring communication to both internal and external stakeholders.
Responsible for initiating new business relationships and selling in North America.
Liaise with PGS (Pfizer Global Supply) and other internal resources to obtain information necessary to develop and issue proposals to potential clients, facilitate due diligence plant visits and meetings, and to formulate and negotiate complex development and supply contracts.
Have a deep understanding of the Pfizer CentreOne / PGS governance process that defines selling capacities and capabilities of individual sites. Develop a working relationship with respective stakeholders.
Drive growth:
Be accountable for achieving Pfizer CentreOne sales targets and driving growth in North America.
Responsible for finding and developing new product and service opportunities, utilizing cold calls, lead follow-up and other personal and network driven chances.
Develop and defend business rationale and case for new opportunities.
Collaborate with Pfizer CentreOne commercial and PGS manufacturing teams to create and issue proposals, facilitate prospect site visits, and perform company / product due diligence.
In collaboration with internal stakeholders such as legal, negotiate and formulate contracts for all new deals.
For operationalizing new deals, ensure a smooth transition to respective team after a contract is signed.
Lead customer relationships:
Be the expert and primary contact for and on the target companies by initiating and maintaining relationships for all targeted products.
Actively manage client relationship to help resolve issues, conduct business reviews as required, provide contract assistance, and other necessary duties to maintain client satisfaction and achieve corporate business objectives.
Gain customer and market insights:
Utilize external market intelligence sources, work with the Business Analyst and the Pipeline Development & Innovation Team to identify new leads and business opportunities.
Utilize and contribute to Pfizer CentreOne marketing campaigns, sponsored conferences, and local networking events to expand market knowledge, competitive intelligence, and contacts.
Drive collaboration for business planning:
Maintain sales forecast and assist in development of long-term sales plan(s), along with updates to management on sales and earnings progress versus long-term plan(s).
Understand customers’ pipeline, strategic outsourcing decisions, potential consolidation, or divestiture plans and other areas that could provide potential future opportunities and partnerships.
Develop, maintain, and execute strategic customer business plan and client relations. Discuss and align account performance and strategy with internal stakeholders (such as PGS, development services, commercial).
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
BA/BS in Sciences, Engineering or Business required; Master's Degree or Ph.D. is preferred.
Strong business acumen: Significant (>5 years) pharmaceutical industry experience, in commercial / selling.
Outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Negotiation experience including pricing, contracts, and other business-related activities.
Project management skills: Proven, mature client handling, issue resolution and expectation management skills, demonstrated result-orientation, tenacity, and follow-through.
Strong networking skills: Must have prior experience interacting in a global environment with cross-functional disciplines in a highly matrixed environment (e.g., Manufacturing, Research & Development, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs functions).
Knowledge of OSD and SI drug product technologies, API& Biological drug substance technologies as well as of local markets, cultural differences, customer requirements, local trade and credit practices, government requirements, credit terms, shipping practices, sales service requirements, and all major competitive factors.
Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in oral solid dose or drug substance manufacturing and/or work experience with small biopharmaceutical companies.
Proficiency in Pfizer tools and processes, such as Microsoft Office, SAP, Salesforce.com, Concur and others as they arise.
NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 25% travel required; travel is dependent on meeting growth/revenue targets.
Domestic and international travel to visit with PGS sites, technology partners and potential customers.
Work Location Assignment: Pfizer Site 2.5 times/week.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $117,300.00 to $195,500.00.* In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 17.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
