Job Description
Role
As a Staff Hardware Architect - AI, you will directly report to the Hardware Architecture Manager, working on projects that shape the hardware underpinning ServiceNow’s global cloud, with a focus on our AI and ML systems. The systems you design, select, and help implement will allow ServiceNow to achieve its AI goals (both in the short and long-terms), and help define the vision of that technology here at ServiceNow.
What you get to do in this role:
- Drive hardware enhancements from original concept through final implementation across all system architectures and assess impact to performance and capacity.
- Evaluate and test new products, frequently prior to general availability, identifying root cause issues through testing and making sound recommendations to resolve issues.
- Work closely with software development teams to understand requirements for GPUs, hardware accelerators, and associated technologies.
- Identify novel technologies and architectures - and benchmark potential changes to prove your theories.
- Effectively communicate the value of new and emerging platforms to the ServiceNow organization, internally.
- Serve as top-tier escalation for complex hardware issues.
Qualifications
- 10+ years evaluating, cost-modeling, and implementing new datacenter technologies. This includes managing multi-vendor RFP’s.
- 10+ years profiling and evaluating performance of Linux systems.
- 5+ years experience with various AI/ML hardware solutions, and their associated software stacks.
- Hands-on experience designing and/or implementing GPU/HPC clusters.
- Hands-on experience with scale-out/clustered filesystems (GPFS, Lustre, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with cluster networking protocols/hardware (InfiniBand, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to successfully lead complex projects.
- Excellent communication & customer skills, conflict management, and interpersonal skills required. Must be able to communicate at a level appropriate to the audience.
GCS-23
For positions in the Bay Area, we offer a base pay of $155,600 - $272,400, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location. We also offer health plans, including flexible spending accounts, a 401(k) Plan with company match, ESPP, matching donations, a flexible time away plan and family leave programs (subject to eligibility requirements). Compensation is based on the geographic location in which the role is located, and is subject to change based on work location.
