Our team needs a Senior Director with strong Data and Machine Learning System development and operations experience, who will contribute to both strategic and tactic planning and execution to continuously advance AI Platform's vision and mission. In this position, you are first a hard-working and versatile data engineering leader that can work in a multifaceted environment as a member of Agile scrum teams.
You will be an integral part of the leadership team, setting up technical roadmap, introducing the latest machine learning and system technology to the team, working with development managers and teams to identify and resolve technical challenges, and working with different products and data science teams to streamline the feature request and model onboarding.

Essential Functions
Provide leadership and direction to the team with the latest data science and applied artificial intelligence techniques. Lead and strengthen a team of engineers to design and build ML infrastructure and AI products, services.
Collaborate with project teams, data science teams and other development teams to drive the technical roadmap and guide development and implementation of new data driven business solutions.
Drive technical standard and best practices in ML and data engineering, and continuously improve AIaS engineering scalability.
Coordinate the implementation among development teams to ensure system performance, security, scalability and availability.
Coaching and mentoring junior team members and evolving team talent pipeline.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- 12+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree, OR 15+ years of relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications
- 15 or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD), PhD with 9+ years of experience
- Master’s, PhD in Computer Science or related technical discipline
- 15+ years of experience with leading and architecting large-scale distributed infrastructure systems Experience working with Data and AI, designing, and building ML infrastructure to train or serve models
- 10 years of experience in a technical leadership role, supervising strategic projects, with 5 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.
- 5 years of experience working in a sophisticated, matrixed organization.
- Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and leadership abilities in an engineering environment in driving operational excellence and standard methodologies.
- Excellence in technical communication with peers and non-technical cohorts.
- Experience working on large open-source projects, preferably in the ML infrastructure domain like TensorFlow, Ray, JAX, PyTorch, Horovod
- Solid understanding of networking, Linux, Docker, databases, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, etc.
- Experience with applying machine learning to real-world problems
- Experience developing proper metrics instrumentation in software components, to help facilitate real-time and remote troubleshooting/performance monitoring.
- A background in the payment domain is a plus.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 205,800.00 to 283,000.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
