Job Description Qualifications:
Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Customer Support is seeking an Avionics and Electrical Systems Service Engineering Manager (Level K) who will be responsible for in-service technical support of in-production and/or out-of-production Boeing Commercial Airplane models in Seal Beach, CA.
The Avionics & Electrical Systems Service Engineering team has the responsibility of addressing in-service technical issues and fleet issues related to Avionics (Flight Management Systems, Communication/Navigation Systems, Network/Recording/Display Systems, etc.) and Electrical Systems (Power, Lighting, Electro-Magnetic Interference, Bonding & Grounding, and Wiring – Wire Design/Installation).
This team develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, suppliers, stakeholders, peers, global teammates, and direct reports. This is a fast-paced position that requires quick reactions, resilience, and adaptability. As the Leader of this team, you will provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes; and manage, develop, and motivate employees. The position will require some travel (domestic / international) to integrate with program leaders, customers, suppliers, and other organizations.
This position requires flexibility to support emergent issues and important Airline Customer meetings off-hours and may require occasional off-shift work to support the 24x7 operation of the fleet.
Primary Responsibilities:
Leads execution of Engineering activities to ensure first time quality and on-time performance.
Responsible for execution of service engineering and solutions by supplier and other Boeing organizations, including the Boeing Design Center (Moscow/Kiev).
Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals.
Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.
Acquires resources for department activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.
Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
Manages, develops and motivates employees by modeling Boeing Values.
Coaches, counsels, mentors and provides developmental opportunities and job assignments to enhance employee performance and expand capabilities.
Inspires employees by championing forward-thinking and innovative solutions.
Proactively communicates with employees, peers, and customers. Keeps others informed by communicating project status, conducting and participating in team meetings, providing presentations and listening to employee concerns and suggestions.
Communicates policies and directives to enhance employee awareness of expectations.
Systematically evaluates proper job classification of employees, sets employee priorities, manages and evaluates performance to plan on a reoccurring basis.
Provides core competency on Avionics & Electrical Systems service engineering related to in-service issues and solves problems/issues for our customers on Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. (Seal Beach, CA)
This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor or Master of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry (ABET is a preferred, although not required, accreditation standard).
5+ years of engineering experience working in the commercial airline/aerospace industry.
2+ years of experience leading an engineering team.
Ability to work and function in a 24x7 by 365 operational environment.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Service Engineering, Design Engineering, or Engineering Management experience related to Avionics Systems and/or Electrical Power, Lighting, and/or Wiring systems on commercial aircraft
Experience in developing and maintaining relationships/partnerships with airline customers, aerospace suppliers, stakeholders, and other global teams
Experience with managing, developing, and motivating employees

Summary pay range: $138,550 - $187,450
