The Student and Graduate Diversity, Early Engagement, and Partnerships team (Team DEEP) recruits great underrepresented talent from National Partnerships, HBCU’s, and HSI’s. Team DEEP is also aligned to Capital One’s Racial Equity (CORE) commitments. The HBCU and HSI team focuses on university relations, student and faculty engagement, recruitment at 11 Impact Schools, and events for Digital First HBCU and HSI’s. As the Digital First Event Strategy Lead, you’ll position Capital One as a great place to work and help candidates understand life at Capital One through our recruiters. General Responsibilities:
As an Event Strategy Lead you will:
Create the Event Strategy for Digital First HBCU and HSI candidates
Owns 2-3 Impact HBCU & HSI Relationships
Manage relationships with Students & Grad partners
Capture and own all data for your events included but not limited to (Students & Grad Tracks, Early Engagement opportunities, Summits Etc). Present this information out in season retrospectives
Keep track of all budget information for your events
Work on medium to large-scale complex, cross-departmental projects and events that have a direct impact on the company (DEEP Events, cross- departmental processes, etc)
Drive cross-functional projects based on defined priorities; ensure scope of deliverables, timelines and budget are met; identify risks and issues and mitigate and / or escalate as needed; manage complex up and downstream project impacts.
Plan, design, manage and execute project plans to ensure delivery. This activity includes management through feasibility, design, planning and implementation.
Leverage problem solving skills to ensure project plans deliver on intent and maintain key project documentation
Conduct regular meetings with the DEEP leaders and other stakeholders. Document progress and report to key stakeholders on project status.
Partner with project customers to provide strategic and tactical thought partnership to effectively drive project delivery
Collaborate with leaders to enhance the candidate experience
Build relationships with vendors, internal team members and a wide range of stakeholders across the organization to ensure delivery of commitments
Identify ways to improve and streamline business process
Be willing to travel 25% of the time
The person will:
Exhibit a proven track record of project management, bringing the ability to quickly put structure in place to manage the work
Support large scale DEEP Events and Events at their schools
Create and build out synergies with S&G Partners
Coordinate events for a small portfolio of schools
Demonstrate outstanding communication and partnership skills which are essential for interacting and communicating with key stakeholders across all levels to manage, inform, and influence outcomes
Demonstrate organizational agility to adapt to changing demands
Display strong consulting and collaboration skills
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification
At least 1 year of recruiting experience
At least 1 year of communications or event management or marketing or HR generalist experience or a combination
At least 1 years of Project Management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or Military Experience
1+ year of experience in financial services or other highly regulated industry
1+ year of experience working with Eightfold, Jira, Zoom and Google Forms
3+ years of Project Management experience
1+ year of People Management experience
PMP, Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Strong problem solving and influencing skills
Work experience achieving results with complex projects
