About The Role:
Capital One U is looking for a strategic, results-driven communications professional to join a talented group of integrated communicators on our Communications and Engagement team.
On the Communications and Engagement team, you will be responsible for working with key executives and their leadership teams to understand areas of need and build sustainable communications strategies designed to share the vision of the organization as well as engage, empower and inspire associates. With a focus on executive and internal communications, you will be a part of a talented team who brings the organizational strategy to life for our associates. You will be responsible for executive-level communications and strategic storytelling to support the leaders and initiatives within our organizations. We are looking for a confident communications leader who is obsessed with inspiring change through innovative experiences, content, and storytelling.
This position requires exceptional written, verbal and presentation skills; experience consulting executives; the ability to lead projects and work with multiple stakeholders or partners to meet objectives; and a proven track record of building trusted relationships and influencing key stakeholders to achieve the best results with associates, customers and the business in mind.
Our Ideal Candidate Should Have:
Experience working closely with leadership to build out, manage, and execute strategic, creative communication campaigns through editorial, video, and graphic content
The ability to collaborate with teams across the enterprise to write engaging and compelling content
Knowledge to utilize traditional marketing channels, communications tactics, change management practices, and social media
Experience leveraging measurement plans and data to formulate and flex change strategies and campaigns
Experience developing and executing successful communications strategies including executive-level leader communications support
Exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills
The ability to present complex, subject matter in a clear, concise, and compelling manner
Expertise in relationship building with proven ability to work effectively with multiple constituents, including peers, executive leaders, and senior management
The ability to flip back and forth from strategy to tactics quickly
Self-motivation with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize
Strong presentation skills and engaging professional presence
The ability to work as part of a team, in an open and collaborative environment, and stay calm under intense pressure to manage rapidly changing priorities
A mindset that easily adapts to change and takes on a growth mindset approach
Creative, integrative problem-solving and structured thinking
Strong project management skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Responsibilities Include:
Build and execute strategic plans for executive-level leader communications - to include written, speaking (both internal and external), as well as social media
Lead with the customer and translate needs into thoughtful strategy
Write, proofread, and edit communications needed to support strategic plans
Effectively leverage a suite of communication channels - like email, Slack, video, internal social computing platforms, and social - while innovating on new channel opportunities
Work effectively in cross-functional teams to advance the team and leadership’s communication strategy and implement a range of creative solutions to reach key target audiences
Maintain an open and inclusive team environment. Able to manage and prioritize work for the team while consistently delivering results.
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification
At least 3 years of experience of executive communications
At least 5 years of experience in planning, execution, and analysis of communication programs
At least 7 years of experience in corporate communications, internal business communications, leading organizational change and communication projects, or any combination of these experiences
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or military experience
At least 1 year of experience in financial services, technology or other highly regulated industry
At least 1 year of project management experience
At least 1 year of experience managing issues and organizational change communications
At least 1 year of experience leading people
