Job Description Qualifications:
Boeing Defense Space & Security has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Flight Management System Design Engineer (Level 4) to join us as part of our Mission Systems Integration team located in Hazelwood, MO.
The Flight Management System (FMS) is a fundamental component of a modern transport airplanes. An FMS is a specialized computer system that automates a wide variety of in-flight tasks, reducing the workload on the pilot. The FMS provides and/or automates Flight Planning, Datalink, Guidance, Navigation, Performance and Thrust Management functionality.
You can expect to interface with engineers from all a multitude of teams such as hardware, software, PVI, Human Factors, Vehicle Management, Communications, and Navigation.
Position Responsibilities
Develop and validate hardware and software system functional and software requirements for the FMS and other CNS/ATM capabilities
Support the design of hardware, software and interface specifications
Tests and validates to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements
Develop tests to evaluate system
Monitors supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements
Researches specific technology advances for potential application to company business needs
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Export Control:
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelors of Science (or greater) from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry, or other technical degree
Experience leading or managing Flight Management Systems or Vehicle Management Systems engineering activities
Experience in one or more commercial and military communication subsystem(s) and associated capabilities such as Satellite Communication (SATCOM), Ultra High Frequency (UHF), Very High Frequency (VHF), Information Friend or Foe (IFF) - Transponders (IFF-T), Enhanced Proximity Warning Systems (EGPWS), Traffic Collision Avoidance and Alerting Systems (TCAS), Global Positioning Systems (GPS) both Civil and Military, Surveillance equipment required for Communication and Navigation and Surveillance of Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) operational environment
Experience with regulatory, certifications, or standards within Aviation
Experience in developing or integrating Mission Systems for military aircraft
Willing to travel up to 10%
Typical Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree and typically 9 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 7 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with typically 4 or more years' experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range (Level 4 Lead): $119,850 -$162,150
