Job Description Qualifications:
Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) is seeking Mid-Level, Senior and/or Lead Systems Engineers to join its Mobility, Surveillance & Bombers (MS&B) System Safety team in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. MS&B OKC has a strong and growing portfolio of legendary US and international aircraft such as Air Force One, E-4B, C-32, C-40, B-1, B-2, B-52, E-3 AWACS, E-7 AEW&C, KC-135, KC-10, with more platforms coming. We are a growing safety capability within the Systems Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT) team that is not confined to the programs within Oklahoma City. We are often sourced to support programs across the enterprise in Seattle, St. Louis, Philadelphia, Mesa, Southern California, and Huntsville Alabama, for platforms such as P-8, KC-46, F-15, F-18, vertical lift, and space systems. We are looking for people with the drive to grow, help others across BDS and contribute to a strong team dynamic.
This role that will have the responsibility and opportunity to contribute or lead a team of Systems Engineers on one of multiple high-profile Boeing programs. The qualified candidate will have the ability to manage project/program schedules and budgets, provide technical oversite for the engineering team, lead and inspire others, be detail oriented, objective, analytical, have excellent people and communication and presentation skills, and the drive to accomplish great things on an awesome team.
This role features BDS level visibility projects and the opportunity to interact with BDS Executive leadership. This is an interesting and exciting opportunity to work with an experienced team of leaders and professionals on a quick growing site.

Position Responsibilities:
- Contribute, lead, and grow a team of up to six safety engineers through the entire military acquisition process
- Be an expert and resource in aircraft system functions, failure conditions, and hazard mitigations
- Solve complex technical systems engineering problems and questions
- Perform safety analysis to optimize systems design and their availability in the most critical moments
- Coach and mentor the team to manage vulnerabilities in the system design
- Set requirements and ensure the integrity of systems and components development
- Interact and collaborate with the customer, cross-functional teams, and program management
- Lead and perform activities required to prepare for and conduct major milestones or customer events such as Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, and Flight Test Mission Assurance Readiness Reviews
This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future. (current schedule is a 9/80 schedule (every other Friday off) and work hybrid (virtual Monday and Friday).
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
- 5 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 1 or more years of System Safety engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- 7 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience Aerospace Engineering experience
- 10 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience Aerospace Engineering experience
- Experience with system safety standards and guidance material – such as MIL-STD-882E, Advisory Circular 23.1309-1E, SAE ARP 4761, and SAE ARP 4754A
- Experience performing and documenting Functional Hazard Analysis, System Safety Hazard Assessment, Safety Assessment Report, System Safety Assessment, and Common Cause Analysis
- Experience performing quantitative analysis such as Fault Tree Analysis and Numerical Probability Analysis
- Knowledge of aircraft systems
- Pilot’s license and flying experience
- Military aircraft experience
- Aerospace Engineering experience
- Mechanical Engineering experience
- Electrical/Electronic Engineering experience
- Software Engineering experience
- Systems Engineering experience
- Human Factors experience

Mid-Level (Level 3): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Lead (Level 4): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Lead (Level 5): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range for mid-level 3: $90,500 – $123,050
Summary pay range for Senior level 4: $111,350 – $ 150,650
