Job Description
The Customers Foundations at Square understands and builds the products that support our merchants and their patrons. In a nutshell, we help our customers (sellers) understand their customers (buyers). The Customer Foundations team manages the underlying customer data platform that powers customer interactions across the Square products and third-party integrations that sellers rely on to run their businesses.
The Customer Foundations team's mission is to help Sellers grow their businesses by giving them the tools to know, support, engage, and acquire their customers. Our product suite includes Customer Directory (an omnichannel CRM platform that manages the buyer transactional data), the accompanying search platform that provides multidimensional search, recommendation engine and mobile & frontend applets, and, most recently, the Brand Platform to help sellers express their brand identity consistently and with ease across all available buyer-facing surface areas.
This position is to help build and scale our Brand Platform for Square sellers. As a Full-Stack Engineer on the team, you will…
Have the unique opportunity to build a novel platform from the ground up
Develop entirely new web experiences, enabling sellers of all sizes to fully express their brand identities
Work closely with your fellow engineers and cross-functional teammates to ensure that Square delivers a comprehensive and cohesive web-based product to end-users
Be responsible for engineering designs and implementations of impactful end-user product features
Help the team iterate on existing and establish new engineering patterns and processes to ensure an efficient development cycle
Work with product managers and designers to refine and define product scope and design
Guide the architecture of our front-end systems to ensure quick and stable feature development
Qualifications
You have:
Excellent software engineering aptitude and a product mindset
8+ years professional experience in software development including web applications
Experience working in frontend languages (JavaScript, HTML, CSS), frameworks (React, Ember, Vue) and backend systems in Java, Go, or Ruby
Experience modeling data and working with relational databases
Experience with AWS or other cloud computing platforms
Familiarity with modern HTML, CSS, and Javascript UI Frameworks
Strong communication skills and a strong desire to deliver a great product

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Zone A: USD $202,500 - USD $247,500
Zone B: USD $192,400 - USD $235,200
Zone C: USD $182,300 - USD $222,800
Zone D: USD $172,200 - USD $210,400
