Position Summary
The global systems engineering group is responsible for engineering and support of the IT infrastructure for Visa Inc. and VisaNet. This includes planning, design, evaluation, installation, deployment, automation and maintenance of the IT infrastructure for the data centers and office facilities.
Job Scope
This is an individual contributor role responsible for solving complex problems and taking a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions. This role serves as a technical-functional specialist and works independently with guidance only in the most complex situations. This job requires high collaboration within the team and partnering teams. This job does not require travel or lifting any weights in a Data Center environment.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the design and automate implementation of server infrastructure based on business requirements and adhering to tight operations, security, and procedural models
- Ability to operate in complex, highly-secure, and highly-available, operations environments and interact with the technology domain experts required to maintain those environments
- This position requires a candidate with strong hands on technical engineering professional with business acumen
- Responsible for mentoring junior team members, developing ITIL procedures and best practices standards
- Work with other Engineering Disciplines to develop Infrastructure Building Blocks based Reference Architectures and standards that can be offered as services to our customers
- This position requires design and deployment automation experience with custom and off-the-shelf application, and help coordinate activities of multiple technology domains in terms of design, automate and deployment.
- This position requires a dynamic, hard-working and ambitious individual, with excellent oral and written communication skills
- Candidates will possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills and have experience working in large enterprise operational environments
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifiactions
8+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 11+ years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD
Technical Requirements
•In-depth hands-on experience managing the lifecycle of at least 2 of following Operating Systems and or hypervisors.
o Linux- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 or 8, Ubuntu 18.x or 20.x, CentOS 7 or RockyLinux 8
oVMware ESXi, KVM
• In-depth experience in deployment and workflow automation. Familiar with automation and workflow tool such as Ansible.
• In-depth experience with enterprise class virtualization technologies – Vmware vSphere and or KVM
• Hardware and infrastructure automation experience in at least one of the following server product lines -
o HP Proliant
o Dell PowerEdge
• Scripting and task automation experience in Linux, Windows or virtualized environments. Good knowledge and experience in software defined infrastructure.
•Strong technical analytical and troubleshooting skills, and possess an ability to explain technical concepts and provide guidance to junior staff
• Experience in system monitoring with tools supporting unattended operations
• Experience in securing Linux Systems with SELinux.
• Engineering Knowledge to troubleshoot and solve storage issues (Hosts, SAN switches and Storage Devices)
•Engineering knowledge in TCPIP networking –link aggregation redundancy, switches, routing and load-balancing
• Ability to write technical designs, documentation and presentations for Compute Infrastructure.
• Ability to provide level 3 support and guide level 2 administrators on problem resolution. Exhibit engineering value and perform operational acceptance or turnover activities.
• Must be willing to go on 24x7 ‘On-call’ engineering support on a weekly rotational basis
Professional Requirements
•Bachelors or Degree or equivalent experience in CS or EE equivalent.
• Typically requires a minimum of 7-10 years of relevant working experience.
• Broad knowledge in hardware, software, network and applications deployments thru automation.
•Experience in an application hosting or data center environment
•Experience with maintaining highly available and highly secure systems
•Strong process orientation and a solid understanding of software development and testing techniques, methodologies and best practices are required for automation.
• Individual should be extremely self-motivated with the ability to work independently, coordinating activities within cross-regional and cross-functional teams
•Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and leadership skills along with effective communication (both written and verbal) skills
•Exhibit advanced planning, organizational and problem solving skills
•Strong project management skills
•ITIL certification preferred
Additional Information
Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 132,900.00 to 172,800.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
