Role Overview
In this pivotal role at Fractal, the Senior Azure Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining sophisticated and reliable data pipelines using a variety of Azure data services. The role demands a strong emphasis on automating data workflows, integrating diverse data sources, and optimizing data performance, all while ensuring data governance and compliance. As part of a collaborative team, the engineer will work closely with data scientists and analysts, leveraging their deep expertise in Azure cloud technologies, programming, and DevOps practices to support and enhance data-driven decisions and strategies.
Responsibilities
Data Pipeline Development: Design, build, and maintain efficient, reliable data pipelines using Azure data services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics).
Automation of Data Workflows: Implement automation tools and frameworks to streamline the processes of data collection, processing, and distribution.
Data Integration and Orchestration: Integrate various data sources and ensure smooth data flow among databases, data warehouses, and data lakes.
Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor data pipelines and databases for performance issues and optimize data storage and retrieval processes.
Data Governance and Compliance: Implement data governance policies and ensure compliance with data security and privacy regulations.
Collaboration and Communication: Work with data scientists, data analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure that the data infrastructure meets their requirements.
DevOps and CI/CD Practices: Apply DevOps practices, including continuous integration and deployment, to data management.
Documentation and Reporting: Document data processes and architectures, and report on the health and performance of data pipelines to stakeholders.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5-8 years of direct experience; bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field.
Proficient in Azure cloud services related to data storage, processing, and analytics, and knowledgeable in cloud architecture and best practices.
Strong skills in SQL, Python, or Scala, with experience in scripting for automation and data manipulation.
Experienced in using version control systems like Git, and in managing code and data repositories.
Capable of analyzing and solving complex data-related problems, optimizing data flows and storage solutions.
Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in data engineering and Azure cloud services.
