Job Description
The Software Engineering Manager will be responsible for successfully establishing a new application software development team in Mexico. The team will build a combined mobile and desktop application. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to create a robust team from scratch while driving the strategic direction of our software delivery efforts. The role involves defining team culture, implementing rigorous best practices, and ensuring alignment with the company’s broader objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Building a high-performing software development team by hiring and training new staff.
- Developing and implementing a strategic software development roadmap aligned with the company's business goals.
- Overseeing the design, development, and implementation of new software solutions.
- Managing and prioritizing the software development project portfolio.
- Mentoring and coaching team members, facilitating professional development, and promoting a positive workplace culture.
- Ensuring adherence to industry standards for software development practices and Agile methodologies.
- Collaborating with stakeholders across the organization to ensure software solutions meet the business needs.
Qualifications
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in software development, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience in hiring and managing teams.
- Strong knowledge of modern software development methodologies, especially Agile/Scrum.
- Fluency in both English and Spanish is critical to effectively communicate within Mexico and liaise with our global teams.
- Strong technical knowledge of programming languages, tools, and frameworks.
- Exceptional project management skills.
- Experience with remote team leadership.
PREFERRED:
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT Management, or related field.
- Experience establishing new teams or offices, particularly in an international context.
- Strong networking skills and familiarity with the software development landscape in Mexico.
- Background in developing software for our specific industry would be highly desirable.
