The Environment Tooling team builds tools and services that enable our software engineers to deliver new, well-tested software to production safely, reliably, and regularly. The team’s skills include cloud infrastructure, development of front-end web UIs, APIs and backend services, automated component and integration testing. Your Impact
- Collaborating in a well-balanced full-stack team, building a platform of tools, frameworks, and best practices for our engineers
- Working alongside other engineering teams to understand their processes and pain points
- Applying and expanding your skills as necessary - we really appreciate people who are keen to learn and grow
- Advocating and evangelising your team’s work to the software engineers who will use it
- Writing tests to ensure the quality of our work is good to go to production every time we build
- Helping to define a roadmap for our autonomous team
- Actively improving the team by engaging with the self-organising and continuously improving principles of Agile teams
- Owning and operating the products and systems we build
Preferred Skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to craft solutions that are well architected
- Skills in at least one modern high-level programming language, preferably Go or Rust, but open to others
- Demonstrated ability to learn new tools and languages on the job
- A strong focus on writing tests and you will have a clear view of how and why different kinds of tests should be developed and run
- Understanding of DevOps principles and experience working in a team that build, deploy and operate their own services
- Experience developing containerised applications, preferably running atop Kubernetes, is advantageous
