Ready to further your career in the fast-paced, exciting world of cyber security?
About the Role
We continue to expand our highly talented Infrastructure teams and are seeking a senior developer with significant production operations experience to join us. In this role, you’ll work with the Platform Engineering team to design, develop, and maintain solutions to help other R&D teams deploy, run and support their workloads through the full pre-production, live service, and upgrade lifecycle.
In a senior developer role, you’ll be expected to have substantial experience creating, augmenting and enhancing sufficiently complex software. You should be able to write unit and integration tests for your own code, and be comfortable complying with reasonable code coverage, linting and compliance requirements. You’ll write microservices that run in the maintenance or operations plane, while ensuring the rest of the team can troubleshoot, contribute to, and speak about them authoritatively.
Candidates with an operations (DevOps/SysOps/TechOps) background who have supported infrastructure at scale, and internal tools developers are encouraged to apply for this role - it is an excellent opportunity to both develop services as well as scale them. If you are a firm believer in Infrastructure as Code, continuous deployment/delivery practices, and sustainably automating tasks, then you might be a great fit!
Some of the things you might work on include:
Enhancing our approach for workload provisioning, maintenance, upgrades and decommissioning, allowing service owners to achieve zero or low downtime for their applications with minimal effort
For services and scenarios where fully automated remediation is not desired or feasible, developing code to extract actionable data from production systems - allowing reliability engineering team or service owners to achieve better understanding and faster resolution
Reviewing how R&D teams provision and use other managed cloud resources (load balancers, storage, databases, event streaming), enabling them to define and control these resources as code alongside their service itself
Researching new technologies, running trials and completing proof-of-concept work that enhance capabilities, reduce cost, or are required to stay up to date
Continuously improving the security of the platform itself, including working across teams to provide least-privilege access with IAM policies, security groups and other access control mechanisms
Desired Skills and Experience
Have designed, built, run and maintained multiple scalable, highly-available production-grade workloads
Uses and promotes infrastructure-as-code in public cloud (eg: CloudFormation, Terraform, CDK); contributes to community with patches, documentation improvements or features
Software development background and comfortable in more than one high-level language (eg: Python, Go, Ruby, Java, backend-focused ECMAScript/JavaScript)
Writes maintainable code, with appropriate test coverage, that meets or exceeds industry security standards
Excellent written and oral communication; can interact with multiple R&D teams, project, and program management to successfully complete objectives
Advocates best practices in workload lifecycle to other developers and teams, and backs it up with concrete examples and tooling to achieve them
Additional Skills and Technologies
Experience in the following areas will also be an asset:
Strong experience with core AWS technologies including EC2, S3, Route 53, CloudWatch and IAM
Containers and orchestration (eg: Docker, containerd, Kubernetes)
Configuration management (eg: Chef, Puppet, Ansible)
Operated and administered Ubuntu, Amazon Linux, or other Linux variants
Observability, monitoring, metrics and alerting (eg: Prometheus, Thanos, AlertManager, Grafana)
Networking (on-premises, AWS VPC and related concepts)
Don’t meet all the requirements? That’s okay! We still want you to apply. We have many opportunities, and we are always looking for top talent.
