We started our journey back in 2005, building the first ever peer-to-peer lending company. Fast forward to 2020 and we launched Zopa Bank. A bank that listens to what our customers don’t like about finance and does the opposite. We’re redefining what it feels like to work in finance. The team:
The Data Engineering team are responsible for the ingestion of operational and analytical data to our centralised Data Platform in AWS. This empowers our internal stakeholders (product, customer facing and risk based teams) to make the right data-driven decisions to drive better customer experience and business outcomes by building credit risk models, analysing product performance, segmenting customer into cohorts, call centre performance etc. Overall, we have a cloud focused Data Engineering team which we are planning to scale in size, the ETL team (focused on Finance and Reg Reporting), the DivideBuy Team (an acquisition, focused on building maturity a capability) and Analytics Engineers (building out critical datamarts).
The role:
The data function has grown, and as such we need to ensure we have the right levels of support throughout. As the Data Engineering Manager you will play a key role in the success of our business and the effectiveness of our Data Engineering team. We are looking for someone passionate about developing people and nurturing them as data engineers to build an enterprise grade data platform whilst supporting out technical and non-technical stakeholders to achieve business objectives.
About you:
- You will have strong line management experience managing Data Engineering teams
- You will be focused on team building to foster an environment of collaboration and a positive culture
- Passionate about creating impact through empowering others and believe in supportive and humble leadership
- Your drive to improve will identify new opportunities to better the data platform and support the team to deliver
- Excellent communication skills about to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- A strong commercial outlook with a focus on delivering impact for our customers and the business
Added bonus:
- Experience working in an environment with tools such as AWS, Terraform, Lambda, SageMaker, orchestration tools like Airflow.
