Are you a seasoned Embedded Software Engineer passionate about the future of avionics software development for cutting-edge UAV systems? Have you ever envisioned spearheading a team that melds modern avionics hardware and GNC software with advanced and proven Artificial Intelligence and Autonomy software? Are you eager to apply your expertise in embedded software engineering, avionics hardware integration, and people management to deliver flight critical software systems for a leader in VTOL UAV systems? Shield AI welcomes you to lead our Embedded Software team in production of our state-of-the-art V-BAT products!
As the Embedded Software manager, you will craft, refine, and execute strategies that optimize the avionics software development process for the family of V-BAT aircrafts. Collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team of Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, GNC, and AI engineers you will ensure avionics software is delivered with quality, efficiency, and meets all technical and program requirements. We are looking for a technical expert, passionate about building an avionics software department which establishes the process and engineering rigor to deliver software which is central and critical to the operation of state-of-the art UAV’s. Someone who is not afraid to take charge, make decisions, and do what honor dictates to make things happen. Ideally someone with experience in delivering innovative avionics software solutions to robotics or aircraft vehicles.
What you'll do:
- Manage priorities of the VBAT software team.
- Bring up new robotic platforms and related systems.
- Create software for system diagnostics and testing.
- Work with and modify internal software build systems.
- Develop embedded Linux based software and drivers.
- Develop Bare Metal software for microcontrollers.
- Establish best practices for developing and delivering software systems.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years' experience including Engineering Management
- Bachelor's degree in CS, CE, or EE
- Strong C/C++ background a must
- Safety Critical software development
- You have a demonstrated record of working hard, being a trustworthy teammate, holding yourself and others to high standards, and being kind to others.
$158,485 - $2,247,610 a year

Regular employee positions: Salary within range listed above + Bonus + Benefits + Equity (if applicable)
Temporary employee positions: Hourly within range listed above + temporary benefits package (applicable after 60 days of employment)
*Interns/Military Fellows/Part-time not eligible for bonus, benefits or equity
