Well established metal fabrication and machining business is seeking to add an experienced Sales Account Manager. The ideal candidate is someone who is professional and detail-oriented with a strong metal fabrication/manufacturing background and the desire and aptitude to sell. Account Manager
Takes ownership of and manages the sales to existing customer base, outsourced production, and shipment of fabricated and/or machined metal weldments, assemblies, and individual parts. Works to expand customer base through referrals, prospecting, and limited cold calling efforts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary customer contact and strive for client success and satisfaction.
- Build positive relationships with customers and promote new and repeat business opportunities.
- Secure business referral from existing customer in order to add to existing customer base.
- Seek new customer opportunities through prospecting and cold calling.
- Review customer RFQ's and specifications and evaluate for vendor selection.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings to understand the customer requirements and determine the manufacturing processes required to produce the required product(s).
- Prepare, edit, and/or redact drawings to be sent to partner facilities.
- Prepare and send RFQ’s to supplier partners and evaluate responses with the goal of selecting the best partner to manufacture.
- Create and deliver customer quotations and follow up to close the sale.
- Perform contract review on all new customer purchase orders.
- Accurately enter sales orders and purchase orders in QuickBooks using quotations and customer purchase orders.
- Communicate with vendor partners to obtain acknowledgement of prices and ship dates.
- Monitor the status of all open purchase orders and expedite to ensure on time delivery.
- Determines appropriate product transportation and communicates logistics specifics to vendor partners.
- Support the company with other duties & assignments as needed.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with steel fabrication, machining, welding, and finishing
- Experienced in account / customer management
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings is a must
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to independently problem solve and effectively work directly with customers.
- Intermediate to Advanced Computer skills including Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office products
- CAD software and or QuickBooks experience is a big plus
- Excellent problem-solving skills and can multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Education and Experience
- Minimum of two years of account management
- Hands on (in a shop setting) working in metal fabrication
- Two Years in metal fabrication sales and estimating
- College degree preferred
