Job Description
Responsible for providing accounting and clerical support to the Sales Tax Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, annual sales & use tax returns
Maintain sales tax exemptions by validating, researching, and loading into exemption certificate management software
Renew Business Licenses according to applicable deadlines
Review consumer’s use transactions to properly account for/accrue use tax
Assist with the reconciliation of General Ledger tax accrual accounts
Verify the accuracy of invoices and other accounting documents or records.
Enter data and prepare a variety of reports.
Various general clerk duties such as filing, faxing, copying and collating.
Assist Sales Tax Supervisor in projects and audits
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Associate's or 2-year degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
Familiarity with and understanding of basic Accounting concepts and application.
Experience using MS Office, including Outlook and Excel (moderate skill level).
Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Experience with General Ledger reconciliation a plus
Experience preparing and filing sales and use tax returns a plus
Knowledge of Microsoft AX and/or Avalara Sales Tax a plus
