- Location: This tour role will involve working on location across the UK and you will spend the majority of time working away from home. All applicants must hold a full UK driver’s licence and must feel comfortable driving long motorway distances with others present in the car. Please note also, this role requires a relevant DBS check to be undertaken by the BBC at the appropriate level, at the point of offer of a contract of employment.
- Salary: Up to £41,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Job Introduction
BBC Children's and Education is looking for an experienced Assistant Producer to join a team taking BBC Bitesize onto the road to deliver careers advice and inspiration to 110,000 secondary school pupils. The tour will take in schools across the UK and deliver 4 x hour long sessions in each school, hosted by BBC Talent, and will feature a panel of inspiring guests from a variety of industries who will change perceptions, inspire ambition and celebrate aspiration.
Main Responsibilities
The Assistant Producer will work closely with the Producer and wider team to inspire and educate the audience while complementing and promoting the Bitesize brand and enhancing the reputation, reach and impact of BBC Education.
You will devise and deliver content for the sessions in schools. This involves identifying and booking talent, writing briefs, biogs, producing presenters and guiding contributors.
- You will ensure editorial standards are met, production values kept high and that the tour events run smoothly with the safety of staff, contributors and young attendees ensured.
- You will ensure all content is of a first class standard: thoroughly researched and accurate, aligning with audience needs and expectations and in line with the departmental ambition of inspiring a life full of learning.
- You must be able to drive and feel comfortable in driving long distances on motorways.

- You will have an interest in creating and delivering educational content and activities that inspire young audiences, and an ability to plan and stage events with genuine audience takeout. To do this, you will have a high level of creativity, and the ability to devise and produce innovative learning activities that will excite, inspire and encourage young people and help deliver the learning objectives for this tour.
- You should have demonstrable knowledge of the TV, film and creative talent that resonates with a secondary school aged audience, and an understanding of ways to present content that works for them.
- You will have a commitment to diversity and to connecting with under-served audiences.
- You will be a strong communicator with experience of influencing and managing relationships with external partners including schools, educators and businesses.
- You will have demonstrable experience of applying a range of BBC policies in practice, including editorial guidelines, working with children, and health and safety.
- You will have developed a range of professional skills at Assistant Producer level in a broadcast environment, including planning and organisation, delivering to deadlines, motivating and supervising others, and communicating effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- You will be experienced in leading and motivating small teams and working collaboratively.
