PSC Business Development Manager (Practice Area Business Development Manager).This position will be hybrid, working in our
Dallas, Kansas City, Milwaukee, or
St. Louis office.
The
PSC Business Development Manager is responsible for the development and execution of strategic marketing and business development activities designed to increase brand awareness and support core practice areas of the firm. This role partners closely with the Firm's Practice Specialty Center (PSC) leaders on efforts to drive awareness and revenue growth of the assigned practice areas. Serving as the SME, the PSC Manager will develop deep knowledge of these practices, and proactively and effectively utilize this subject matter expertise - in close collaboration across the firm - to identify and facilitate cross-serving opportunities across the client base. Essential job functions include:
- Develop and implement go-to-market plans designed to increase awareness and elevate the brand of the Firm's core practices in collaboration with PSC leaders and colleagues across the Client Development department.
- Develop a deep understanding of the Firm's core practices, including the market position, client base, areas of expertise, strategic priorities, and competition, and leverage this knowledge to execute effective marketing and business development strategies and "connect dots" within the firm.
- In collaboration with the Proposal and Marketing & Communications teams, maintain current, compelling marketing collateral and content that is reflective of the practices' value propositions.
- Manage and ensure the integrity of data relevant to the Firm's core practices, including content, collateral, matter narratives, and contact lists.
- In collaboration with colleagues across the Client Development department, lead efforts to enhance the visibility and communicate the value proposition of the assigned practice areas.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to attorneys within the Firm's core practices.
- Collaborate across client teams and strategize with stakeholders to synchronize engagement throughout every milestone of the client journey.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Legal Ops, Client Development, HR, Recruiting and other relevant areas to facilitate problem solving.
- Special projects as assigned.
Position Requirements- 4-year degree with major coursework in marketing, communications, or related field; or combination of education and commensurate work experience required.
- 7+ years of solid marketing and business development experience at progressing levels throughout career. Experience in a professional services firm or related organization preferred.
- Strong business development abilities required, including setting priorities, planning, organization, follow-through, delegation and negotiation skills; and ability to build, manage and track budgets and analyze ROI.
- Ability to motivate attorneys to engage in business development and to work with them to develop and implement business development plans.
- Experience providing a high level of client service to individuals at all levels of an organization.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to write and produce compelling proposals, collateral, research reports and client-facing presentation materials.
- Must be forward-thinking with proven ability to deliver solutions to complex challenges.
- High level of maturity and confidence necessary to interact with sophisticated internal and external clients.
- Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Adobe Creative Suite and Internet research tools required; knowledge of InterAction CRM software preferred.
