About the role We are seeking a talented and ambitious Account Executive to join our Referral Partner team. You will have a unique opportunity to help shape the future of the channel as an early member of our Referral Partner team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the full cycle Referral Partner sales process from new partner acquisition to existing partner activation to closing referred deals that result in Bookings.
You are a tech-savvy partner sales professional who is passionate about working with decision-makers to add a retirement offering to their employee benefits or transition plans from their existing provider. You are proficient in navigating strategic sales processes with multiple stakeholders while managing a high velocity sales cycle. You also have a proven track record of working with referral partners to generate sales pipeline and execute a co-selling motion.
This role is based out of our NYC office. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Betterment's total compensation package for employees.
- New York City: $85,000 - $97,500 + Commission

This job is eligible for variable compensation in the form of a commission bonus. For jobs based out of our NYC HQ, we require in office attendance Tuesday through Thursday, weekly.
A day in the life - Create new and build existing relationships with Benefit Brokers and HR Consultancy partners to drive meaningful sales outcomes (referrals, sales opportunities)
- Maximize referral intake lanes and build sales pipeline by developing strong relationships across all levels for existing Referral Partners
- Manage prospective partner and sales pipelines in Salesforce to accurately forecast new partner acquisition and revenue
- Conduct discovery and product demonstration calls, managing the entire sales cycle to closing deals and selling the value of Betterment products
- Close business and achieve quota attainment consistently
- Provide new clients with great experience by working closely with Onboarding and CSM teams to ensure smooth handoffs
- Provide "voice of the client, partner and industry" to Marketing and Product teams to drive roadmaps
What we're looking for - 3+ years of referral partner sales experience working in B2B tech/SaaS sales with proven track record of success (top 10% of sales organization)
- Experience with SPICED or comparable sales framework
- Experience in Benefit Brokers and HR Consultancy referral partner sales is highly desirable
- Experience with Referral Partner sales technology stack, i.e., Groove, Salesforce, PartnerStack, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Gong
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment
- Self-motivated, accountable, organized, communicative, and adaptable professional with willingness to learn while holding self to highest of standards
- National travel expectations of 20-40% of your time
