Job Description:We are seeking a Senior Business Development Manager to join our Asahi Kasei Advance America team. Under direction of the President, you will be developing new business for nonwoven and other new materials in our portfolio. A successful candidate will be self-motivated, driven and able to win new business, have the ability to quickly learn from customers, and thrive in a small team structure. You will have sales/purchase and market responsibility of nonwoven sales in North America. You will be the lead contact to sales staffs in Asahi Kasei Advance Japan and overseas offices and oversee sales support staffs for administration, logistics, payment and collection.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Assertively develop new business for nonwoven / any other new materials
- Attend trade shows to find new materials, trends, ideas, opportunities of interest.
- Disseminates product / market information internally to ensure up-to-date initiatives and trends are known.
- Research markets and products to find opportunities for management review.
- Promote new items offered by Japan to North America.
- Source / suggest items for supply to North America based on recognition of need.
Maintain / expand nonwoven & suggesting any other materials with current applications
- Maintain strong customer contact and positive, proactive relationships.
- Manage forecasts, review with Japan, and organize timely replenishment
- Develop business strategy and price structure with Japan, negotiate price agreements and contracts, establish local warehouse contracts & distribution agreements, and manage cost for North American business.
- Initiate opportunities for use of existing or related new products to expand the business into new areas.
- Trouble shoot technical matters and coordinate solution with Japan.
- Manage quality claims and negotiate settlement.
Instruct / Support counterpart in Japan (Japan team) about nonwoven products, history of the business, and the vendor / customer base
- Communicate regularly by email and phone to help improve Japan team's understanding of each product and technical requirements.
- Assist Japan team's understanding of contractual arrangements and agreements, current topics and requests for each customer.
- Provide guidance for discussion with supplier and new contract set-up.
Conducts business in ways that demonstrate a commitment to the highest ethical and compliance standard
- Apply corporate policy to all trade transactions to ensure compliance; adhere to confidentiality agreements with customers & vendors, request guidance when needed.
Leadership role on sales support staff
- Encourage positive work environment in the team.
- Provide counsel and support to Japan team when assistance is needed.
- Recommend / develop opportunities to improve work flow.
Qualifications and skills- Required: Minimum 7 years of Sales background in nonwovens and related industries; strong negotiation skills; excellent communication skills both written and verbal; ability to ensure full understanding among multiple parties in a mixed cultural environment; supply chain management; global contract management; risk management; travel.
- Preferred: Sales background in nonwovens with technical knowledge / understanding who has worked in current business field.
- Education/Training: Minimum College Degree (B.A. or B.S.).
Physical Demands- Work usually performed in an office setting or customer setting.
- Ability to travel as required by the role, up to 50% of works (Domestic 70%, International 30%).
- Extended working hours may be required as dictated by management and business needs.
The base compensation range for this role is $115,000-$150,000. Base Compensation is influenced by many factors including, but not limited to: time in the role, previous experience, skills, knowledge, performance, work requirements, internal equity, and business / economic conditions.#LI-MG1
