GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The Business Development Manager, Fuels (BDM) is responsible for the continuous development of commercial business relationships and development opportunities. The BDM will oversee current third-party terminal and pipeline agreements and future developments. The BDM will identify, analyze, develop, and negotiate midstream and downstream business opportunities. in support of the company's strategic plan. The BDM will establish and leverage a network of contacts within the energy industry to identify business opportunities and optimize efforts. The BDM will coordinate with internal stakeholders of the business to understand needs and optimize options, analyzing financial and operational impact. The BDM will coordinate with internal and external departments to review and implement contract terms. The BDM will manage the successful implementation of new or amended contracts. This role will provide input on business plans based on knowledge of customer operations and identified opportunities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Formulate and develop growth and optimization opportunities along the value chain within the proximity of company assets or outside the company's current footprint.
2. Manage all aspects of opportunity advancement including commercial structuring, marketing, negotiations, and collaboration with various internal stakeholders in advancing opportunities from concept to execution.
3. Create strategic and tactical plans to identify and capture new business opportunities.
4. Develop and maintain relationships with other industry players to enhance our opportunity set.
5. Provide commercial insight and expertise in the development of strategic assessments of markets or strategic partnership targets.
7. Partner and lead coordination with external commercial groups and internal functional groups to develop and implement optimization plans and/or strategic partnership opportunities.
8. Prepare written justifications and make presentations.
9. Capture, analyze, and disseminate competitive intelligence.
10. Train and mentor less experienced professionals.
11. Drive organizational and functional effectiveness to achieve business goals.
12. Collaborate with the rest of the business unit and leadership team in creating business development strategies to support the direction of the company's strategic and tactical initiatives.
13. Provide project management support of Fuels projects.
14. Ensure adherence to project plans and schedules, develop solutions to project problems, and oversee the completion of assigned projects within budget and timeline.
15. Develop negotiation strategies and lead negotiations of agreements with counter parties.
16. Anticipate risks and challenges related to initiatives and create/implement mitigation strategies.
17. Facilitate dialogue among stakeholders to distill cross-department insights, share best practices, and drive overall alignment and transparency resource sharing, and information flows.
18. Make recommendations on changes to scope and sequencing to accommodate for interdependencies across initiatives.
19. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Broad knowledge of such fields as accounting, marketing, business administration, finance, etc. Equivalent to a four-year college degree, plus General experience is not indicated, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
