Job Description:
We are seeking a Business Development Manager who will be responsible for leading and managing a team of Business Development Representatives. Your role will encompass setting the right metrics, quotas, and tools to ensure team success and overall performance. You will be the driving force behind our sales strategy, leading your team to expand our market presence and achieve business goals.
This is a 0-1 position. You will build the BDR team from the ground up. We expect you to choose the right tools, the right messaging, and the right strategy to succeed. You will be fully supported by the rest of the marketing and sales teams during this process. We expect you be able to personally demonstrate the effectiveness of this strategy by hitting certain quotas, before we start scaling the team with you as the leader.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and prove out a successful outbound strategy from the ground up.
- Lead and manage a team of Business Development Representatives, providing training, mentorship, and support to ensure team success.
- Prove out a cold calling strategy, wherein you will be expected to cold call at least 60% of the time for the first quarter.
- Develop and implement effective sales strategies and set clear targets and metrics for the team.
- Oversee the creation and management of quotas and KPIs to track team performance.
- Ensure the team is equipped with the necessary tools and resources to succeed, including CRM systems and sales enablement tools.
- Work closely with marketing and product teams to align strategies and capitalize on market opportunities.
- Monitor market trends and competitors to adjust strategies and maintain a competitive edge.
- Be accountable for the overall performance and success of the business development team.
- Report on team and individual performance, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a business development leadership role, ideally in a tech or manufacturing-related industry.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a sales team.
- Ability to hit personal quotas as well as team quotas.
- Strong understanding of sales metrics and the ability to set and manage quotas.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical mindset with a problem-solving approach.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
