Position Summary...
Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning. Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by selecting and training; mentoring; assigning duties; building a team-based work environment; establishing performance expectations and conducting regular performance evaluations; providing recognition and rewards; coaching for success and improvement; and ensuring diversity awareness. Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application; ensuring compliance with them; and utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy. Ensures business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives; consulting with business partners, managers, co-workers, or other key stakeholders; soliciting, evaluating, and applying suggestions for improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness; and participating in and supporting community outreach events.

About Team:
Building the right technology foundation for Infrastructure & platforms is vital to success at the scale of Walmart. Our team builds and maintains the foundational technologies that support the tech organization. Included in this are data platforms, enterprise architecture, DevOps, cloud computing, and infrastructure. All of these products and services are supported by scalable and powerful infrastructure, ensuring a secure and seamless employee and customer experience across stores, digital channels, and distribution centers.
Key Technical Responsibilities:
Responsibility for all technical aspects of the Software Asset Management (SAM) team’s tools & technology: Flexera FNSM, Zylo, APIs, discovery agents, data lake connections, etc. Evaluating SAM team’s tools and applications to determine needs and potential upgrades. Technical expertise to validate license counting methodologies and ensure 3rd party approaches are valid Designing and implementing efficient solutions and system management techniques. Developing detailed system design and project plans, including hardware/software specifications, design, resource allocation, timelines, and budgets. Monitoring the performance and capacity of computer systems and making necessary adjustments to ensure optimal performance. Troubleshooting network and system issues and resolving them promptly. Conducting regular system backups and restore operations to protect data. Ensuring all systems and processes adhere to company policies and regulatory requirements (Ex SSP (security reviews), certificate management, process IDs, etc). Collaborating with various stakeholders, including system architects and software developers, to ensure system consistency and coherence. Training end-users and writing system user manuals and troubleshooting guides. Keeping up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in systems engineering. Facilitate the procurement, deployment, and maintenance of software applications. Keep up-to-date with the latest software trends and updates. Identify cost-saving opportunities through software license optimization. Manage software license agreements and renewals.
Requirements:
· A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
· Proven experience as a Systems Engineer or similar role.
· Strong knowledge of system engineering concepts and techniques.
· Proficiency in system design and architecture.
· Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
· Strong knowledge of networks, databases, and operating systems.
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
· Ability to collaborate effectively with different stakeholders.
· Proven experience in software asset management or a similar role.
· Strong knowledge of software licensing and procurement processes.
· A professional certification, such as Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), may be beneficial.
· Certifications such as Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM) or similar would be a plus.
Specific Technologies / Skillsets:
- APIs: Install, manage, troubleshoot
- Systems Admin: Flexera (FNMS and/or FlexeraOne), Zylo, or other similar SaaS software licensing toolsets are a plus
- Data Lake Support: GCP, SQL Scripting, Power BI
