We are Timbre Games (part of the Sumo Digital Group), a new studio in Vancouver, Canada focused on making exciting, innovative game experiences. Timbre’s vision is to change the games industry through the original games we make, as well as how we make them. An Engineer at Timbre games will focus on creative, innovative and technically sound work. Our engineering team is fully integrated with all areas of game development and collaborates both technically and creatively. Our studio focuses on Unreal Engine 5, pushing everything we do towards technical excellence. We are lifelong learners, leaning on both internal expertise and external inspiration to continue our path of growth and development. We have a keen eye for best practices and elegant code, and ensure knowledge sharing, and mentoring are a priority.
As a Software Engineer - Unreal Tools, you’ll impact our team by working closely with engineering, animation, and design to create tools that automate workflows that improve and optimize our work. By empowering the team with powerful and user-friendly tools, your role not only elevates the technical capabilities of the project but also enhances the overall creative potential of the studio.

As a Software Engineer - Unreal Tools at Timbre, you will:
- Collaborate with team members of various disciplines, including art, design, and programming teams, to review proposed features and develop those features from prototyping to production
- Create and deploy tools to streamline processes, ensure pipeline automation and optimization, and improve the overall efficiency of content creation
- Write beautiful C++ code that is clean, clear, performant and aligns to coding best practices
- Regularly test tool functionalities to ensure reliability and efficiency. Address and resolve bugs and performance issues to maintain high standards of tool quality
- Support our studio culture and values by transferring knowledge on best practices and learnings
What you Bring:
- Demonstrated experience in designing, building, and maintaining custom tools within the Unreal Engine environment using Python, Blueprints, Editor Utility Widgets, C++ or Slate, tailored for both technical and non-technical users
- A track record building and deploying reusable tools across multiple projects
- Commitment to staying current with the latest technologies and best practices in game development and Unreal Engine advancements
