Job Description
Join Olsson’s dynamic and expanding Bridge team as a Senior Engineer and have a pivotal impact in shaping the success of our growth in the St. Louis area! As we embark on the incredible opportunity to grow our footprint, we are seeking an experienced engineer to elevate our team to new heights. Our Bridge group works on a wide range of projects including bridge and retaining walls, dams, storm and traffic structures, inspections, rehabilitations, load ratings, and assisting with construction engineering services. We facilitate designs on transportation projects that include grade separations, interchanges, and stream crossings for public and private clients throughout the Midwest.
In this influential role, you will spreadhead technical excellence, serving as the lead engineer and trusted advisor on intricate projects. Your responsibilities will extend to providing high-level technical design, overseeing quality assurance/control, and managing projects with a keen eye on scope, schedule, and budget. You will not only review contracts and champion efficiency in producing top-notch work but will also curate technical resources, fostering an environment of continuous improvement. There will also be opportunity to provide guidance to less experienced staff, contribute to team building, and engage in client relations.
As a Senior Engineer, you will take charge of supervising and nurturing the professional and technical growth of team members. Your emphasis on mentorship will contribute to a culture that values skill development, collaboration, and collective success. Primary Responsibilities
- Provides high-level project design and review of project documents and design quality for complex projects.
- Serves as a technical specialist, applying advanced engineering concepts and developing approaches to solve for complexities.
- Performs QA/QC and ensures delivery of completed designs meets quality standards and project objectives.
- Conducts research in areas of considerable scope and complexity.
- Advises and directs staff on design approaches to fulfill project requirements.
- Works collaboratively to promote efficiencies and produce high quality work.
- Contributes to the development of standards and/or guidelines for engineering activities within the team.
- Supervises, mentors, and reviews technical assignments of less experienced staff.

You bring to the team:
Required
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to contribute and work well on a team
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
- Master’s degree, or in pursuit, a plus
- 8+ years of relevant engineering experience
- Must be a registered Professional Engineer (PE)
Preferred
- Experience with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design
- Experience with bridge analysis and design programs (LARSA, LEAP Bridge Expertise, Lpile, SPColumn, or MDX)
- Experience with MoDOT bridge projects
- Experience in MicroStation
