We are looking for a hands-on technical leader for our manufacturing test engineering team. Skydio builds complex flying robots and our goal is to ensure high quality and efficiency at our internal and external manufacturing sites. We have developed a robust software platform that models and tracks the manufacturing process, runs and tracks tests on the line, and ultimately ensures the quality and performance of each and every Skydio product made. Your team will design and build manufacturing test hardware and software to meet the demands of a growing hardware portfolio and customer base.
How you'll make an impact:
- Build and lead Skydio’s manufacturing test engineering team
- Collaborate with product development, manufacturing operations and software teams to define and implement manufacturing test plans
- Define and build manual or automated functional test stations
- Qualify, deploy and audit test stations in fast paced production environments
- Develop test software in our vehicle test framework
- Work with the product development team to identify and incorporate design for test optimizations into our products
- Proactively identify test related issues throughout product build cycles and aim for timely resolution
What makes you a good fit:
- 5+ years leading test development or engineering teams
- 10+ years engineering experience in manufacturing environment
- Proven experience working with test automation in consumer electronics or industrial systems
- Strong electromechanical experience in designing automated test equipment
- Strong understanding of communication interface protocols (UART, USB, I2C)
- Electrical design and PCB layout (Cadence, Pads, Eagle, Fusion 360) to interface with DUT is a plus
- Capable of coding in Python is a plus
- Enthusiasm for hands-on development of creative solutions to complex problems
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, communication, and multi-functional collaboration skills
- Ability to conduct detailed root cause / failure analysis for manufacturing test and equipment issues
- Experience with PLCs, Arduino, and Fusion 360 is a plus
- You are motivated to work in a dynamic and fast growing company balancing getting things done quickly and working toward long term goals
Compensation Range: The annual base salary range for this position is $170,000 - $220,000*. Compensation will vary based on factors, including skill level, proficiencies, transferable knowledge, and experience. In addition to base salary, Skydio full-time employees are eligible to enroll in our benefit plans and take advantage of a variety of incentives and stipends.
