Position Summary...

What you'll do...
About Team:
The SPI team is presently building out the next generation data platform and applications to enabling us to optimize our decisions and support Walmart’s EDLP/EDLC strategy. The team provides key insights and metrics to support the USD 132B+ sourcing business. Commodity trends and risk forecasting, raw materials tracking, surety of supply, supplier performance are some of the important areas that are supported by the data platform.
What you'll do:
- Define and execute a comprehensive data & analytics platform strategy to align with Walmart Sourcing business goals and vision.
- Drive innovation, ensure best practices, and lead the team to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Be a tech advisor for product managers, business, and leadership for key decisions on capability development, tech decisions, timeline/prioritization decisions and rollout strategy.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for data platform architecture, design patterns, and implementation. Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies BigData systems.
- Designing, building, productionizing, optimizing, operating, and maintaining large scale Data systems for Walmart.
- Collaborate with architects to design scalable, secure, and robust analytics solutions that meet the evolving needs of our products and customers. Provide architectural oversight and ensure adherence to best practices.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including Product Management, UI/UX Design, Quality Assurance, and DevOps to ensure seamless integration of data platform APIs and components within our product ecosystem.
- Identify potential security risks and compliance issues related to data platforms. Implement strategies to mitigate risks and ensure data protection and privacy.
- Interacting with downstream customers and core development team to define integration points and support model output management.
- Champion engineering & operational excellence and proactively lead technical decisions in the team. Coach/mentor the team to help them achieve their full potential.
- Working with Platform & Cloud Ops to size and optimize the infra & platform services required for the data platform and analytics applications.
- Lead a team of skilled engineers, architects, and developers focused on data platform and analytics application implementation. Provide mentorship, guidance, and professional development to team members.
What you'll bring:
- Proven experience in building high-performance teams and scalable best-practices in SaaS/Online/Enterprise Product engineering organization.
- 15+ years of overall experience with at least 5 years of experience as a people manager, handling teams of 20+ engineers.
- Strong technical aptitude and proven experience in architecture, design, and delivery of software systems.
- Experience with CI/CD processes and design for high scale, availability, testability, and extensibility.
- Excellent logical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and schedule a high workload and multiple parallel projects efficiently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication with stakeholders in a matrixed environment. Building partnerships is a critical expectation for this role.
- Long term experience with at least one product from inception to completion and evolution of the product over multiple years.
- Building for “as a service” model where components are multi-tenant, customize-able and leverage-able across Walmart’s business verticals, and potentially with a partner ecosystem.
- Strong Experience working with big data technologies such as Spark/Storm/Hadoop/Data Lake Architectures will be a plus.
- Strong expertise in creating platform architecture for large scale Data engineering for full cycle development will be a plus.
