Job Description
Join Visa's Ecosystem & Operational Risk technology team, specifically the Payment Fraud Disruption team, at the forefront of innovation in the dynamic payment space. As a data engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and testing fraud prevention solutions for Visa and its clients. Ideal for someone with a strong data engineering background, proven experience in building scalable batch and real-time processing systems, and a track record in payments, risk, or fraud prevention. Key responsibilities include shaping the strategic vision of the Ecosystem & Operational Risk platform, creating tools, and services to secure Visa's payment systems. The role requires a self-starter with strong attention to detail, excellent collaboration skills, and a passion for leveraging Generative AI like GitHub copilot for efficient software development. Essential Functions
- As a Senior Data Engineer, you will help design, enhance, and build next generation fraud detection solutions in an agile development environment.
- Formulate business problems as technical data problems while ensuring key business drivers are captured in collaboration with product stakeholders.
- Drive development effort end-to-end for on-time delivery of high-quality solutions that conform to requirements, conform to the architectural vision, and comply with all applicable standards. Responsibilities span all phases of solution development.
- Collaborate with project team members (Product Managers, Architects, Analysts, Developers, Project Managers, etc.) to ensure development and implementation of new data driven business solutions.
- Deliver all code commitments and ensure a complete end-to-end solution that meets and exceeds business expectations.
- Assist in scoping and designing analytic data assets, implementing modelled attributes, and contributing to brainstorming sessions.
- Build and maintain a robust data engineering process to develop and implement self-serve data and tools for Visa’s data scientists.
- Perform other tasks on data governance, system infrastructure, analytics tool evaluation, and other cross-team functions, as needed.
- Execute data engineering projects ranging from small to large either individually or as part of a project team.
- Ensure project delivery within timelines and budget requirements.
- Effectively communicate status, issues, and risks in a precise and timely manner.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- ·2 or more years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree, OR 5+ years of relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD)
- Proficient in creating data-driven solutions using technologies like Hadoop, MapReduce, Hive, Spark, NoSQL, and traditional databases (e.g., MySQL).
- Skilled in developing real-time streaming data pipelines with Kafka, Spark Streaming, ELK, etc.
- Expertise in constructing ETL/ELT pipelines, implementing data quality checks, and building anomaly detection/notification systems.
- Solid experience in building large-scale distributed data processing systems with high availability, low latency, and strong data consistency.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Java or Python.
- Hands-on experience with agile development, continuous integration, and continuous delivery.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to present complex ideas concisely.
- Effective interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to deliver high-quality, defect-free code within proposed SLAs.
- Driven, resourceful, and results-oriented.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and navigate through ambiguity.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 113,000.00 to 144,000.00 USD, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
