Job Description
This is a leadership role in HDD firmware test development/Validation team, and one would be responsible for creating automated test cases for testing storage devices such as hard drives. The role will involve working with product firmware design and development teams to understand/requirements the features and create exhaustive, efficient test cases to ensure correctness of implementation. The candidate will be required to lead test development efforts, interface with external teams, mentor small teams.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Create test specifications and comprehensive test plans for HDD Firmware features.
- Design and implement Comprehensive validation plans for new Products/Programs outlining the scope, objectives, and acceptance criteria.
- Experienced in handling and leading small workgroups having members across geographies with various expertise and experience levels.
- Understand the product priorities and feed the test development engineering team with right priority of work
- Design and code black/grey/white box test cases to validate HDD firmware
- Perform failure analysis and debugging
- Lead or Participate in planning activities and layout a work plan for product increment cycle.
- Drive/participate in technical reviews and provide feedbacks, setup guidelines and processes to improve test code stability.
- Provide status and updates to management and stakeholder highlighting risks, impacts, impediments, and mitigation plans.
- Coach and mentor junior members in the team and should be able to lead a small group of team members ensuring the quality deliveries.
- Demonstrated expertise in doing failure analysis and root cause Software and Test failures.
- Understand Software development and Test Life Cycle.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelors or Masters in EC, EE, CS or similar engineering disciplines
Qualifications
Required
- 10+ years of industry experience in product validation and test development.
- Hands on experience in designing and developing functional, stress and system test cases.
- Experience in architecting automation frameworks, developing libraries/modules and test automation.
- Experience in Test planning, requirement-to-testcase mapping, Test case writing, Defect logging and tracking.
- Ability to define test requirements, define dependencies, identify & highlight impediments and prioritize product work accordingly
- Good knowledge of testing methodologies, knowledge of different testing tools and overall product life cycle
- Strong problem solving, analytical and debugging skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience in Embedded Firmware validation, Test case debugging.
- Exposure to SAFe/Agile development methodology
- Programing experience in OOPs using Python
- Understanding of SAS/SATA protocols and specs is a plus
- Ability to understand C/C++ code
