• PayPal Payments Platform organization is looking for a Manager of Software Development, to lead and manage our Real-Time Auth Capture Engine (ACE) Platform team in Bangalore, India. We are looking for an engineering manager with recent people-management experience, who comes from an engineering background and has proven leadership capability.

• The Payments Platform Organization is responsible for all things payments—forward money movement, reverse money movement, store of value, store of record, and cloud—anything that is related to payments, which this team is directly impacting. Software engineers at PayPal’s core payments team develop innovative solutions and high-quality products that make PayPal a world-renowned payment processor and a dominant player in the industry.
• We are looking for a leader who will build and guide our team to support platforms and processes that would allow our engineers to solve some of the most complex technical problems in the world of connected payments. As a manager of this critical payments domain, you would need to work across all business units, including PayPal, Braintree, Venmo, Xoom, HyperWallet and others.

• You’ve used SQL & NoSQL solutions and understand the pros and cons of relational and free-form databases.
• You’re comfortable using application server frameworks, for example, Tomcat
or JBOSS.
• You believe in Agile development and putting the customer first in anything you design; experience with SCRUM is a plus.
• You’re a strong advocate of good coding standards and like the use of coding tools that will push you to improve the code you deliver like Sonar.
• You know how to identify performance bottlenecks and use good coding patterns to avoid them in the first place.
• The ideal candidate understands the complexity of a fully scaled-out microservices architecture and can make intuitive judgements on how to support it in a highly reliable and effective manner. You will manage and work alongside the best and the brightest engineering talent in the industry. As the leader of the team, you’ll estimate engineering efforts, prioritize projects, plan implementations, and triage production issues.
• You will have the opportunity to leverage your dynamic, collaborative, and curious mindset to lead your team to do their best work—to build new experiences, improve existing products, and develop distributed systems powering the world’s largest e-commerce and payments websites at a scale only a few companies can match. You will work with both established and cutting-edge technologies like Java, Spring, Spring Boot, Camel, J2EE, JaxB, JSON, Protobuf, RxJava, RxNetty, Hibernate, and Hystrix or Resilience4J to build highly resilient, low-latency, high throughput and with 4 9's availability services.
Your day-to-day:
• Lead and inspire a high-performing engineering team— driving a results-oriented culture with a strong focus on engineering excellence, execution, and craftsmanship
• Lead complex technical and strategic discussions that involve multiple stakeholders including engineering, architect, product, customer, and other business units
• Develop trusted partnerships with developers, partners, and architecture leaders to drive optimized platform product delivery
• Drive business results effectively—implement effective, mature Agile practices, balance urgent and effective action, hold internal stakeholders accountable where appropriate, and manage key outcomes using KPIs and metrics
• Build, coach, and manage a strong team of engineers that set the standard and can up-level the overall talent of the extended organization
• Anticipate and aggressively remove obstacles that slow down or prevent products and programs from delivering on product and program objectives
What do you need to bring:
• Demonstrated strength in leading all phases of the Product Lifecycle, including setting the vision., roadmap planning, capturing requirements, project definition, execution, and operational excellence
• Experience solving problems involving scaling and bringing innovation in high-pressure environments
• Knowledge of Microservices interactions, Cloud Technologies, CI/CD, Jenkins, and Testing methodologies is preferred
• Strong communication, listening, interpersonal, influencing, and negotiation skills; able to convey important messages in a clear and compelling manner
• Ability to effectively manage a geographically distributed team while building a culture of accountability, quality, innovation, and inclusion
