Job Description
To carry out roles under the profile of Senior Electrical Commissioning Engineer, Senior Engineers will be experienced in either HV, LV, DC or generator systems but will be expected to work across all electrical disciplines at times during the contract period. This includes system voltages at 400kV, 10kV, 400VAC, 690VAC 220VDC and control voltages. The Senior Engineer must be able to work with plans and meet tight deadlines.
The Electrical Commissioning Senior Engineer will, carry out the following:
Main deliverables and objectives include:
- Contribute to team meetings
- Liaise with the designer
- Liaise with the Project managers for electrical deliverables
- Accountable to a nominated Commissioning Manager in the client team
- Develop commissioning documentation relating to commissioning testing and system validation activities
- Contribute to design reviews to ensure layout of plant items and systems are in a manner that allows ease of commissioning
- Contribute to detailed planning of commissioning and take ownership of a programme of commissioning tests
- Take part in the execution of site commissioning activities including supervision of contractor commissioning personnel on behalf of HPC to achieve successful and safe commissioning of HPC systems
- Provide information to assist the Commissioning Manager and Senior Commissioning Manager in meeting project-level objectives and milestones
- Analyse commissioning results and provide reports summarising the outcome of commissioning
- Support HPC to ensure that the commissioning process meets nuclear, environmental and industrial safety regulatory requirements and that it reflects good industry practice in international safety and technical excellence.
Qualifications
- Significant engineering experience in the power generation or process industries with heavy regulatory constraints is required.
- This must include the drafting of mechanical and monitoring equipment testing guidelines and procedures / instructions.
- Functional knowledge of Electrical systems is expected
- Commissioning experience is a plus (commissioning test experience on a nuclear site, or commissioning procedure elaboration).
- Ability to propose fit-for-purpose technical solutions in their area of expertise
- Capability of coordinating technical topics which may involve several engineering disciplines (mechanical, fluid/HVAC, I&C) and suppliers
- Good writing skills with a focus on the drafting of test procedures and test coverage substantiation files
- Ability to work in a team, in an international and multicultural environment
