We are currently seeking a Sr. Staff Functional Safety Validation Engineer to join our Software Quality team. This requires an experienced professional with a background in functional safety system requirements and software quality assurance. The ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches his or her work with determination. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, possess the ability to learn quickly, and strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment.
The Role:
- Drive and lead the validation efforts of functional safety system requirements in modern vehicles based on analysis of their electrical-electronic architecture
- Apply electrical circuit analysis and in-vehicle communication system knowledge to develop test plans and test cases to facilitate validation of functional safety requirements and safety goals to validate the safety concept as per the system architecture of one or more functional domains/electronic control units in vehicle
- Work with cross-functional teams to drive SOTIF and ISO 26262 based safety risk and enterprise risk analysis to aid the leadership in feature delivery rollout and scaling efforts
- Drive and lead establishment of a Safety Management System (SMS) and Risk working groups for different domains in the vehicle to triage safety anomalies by estimating the risk and informing the leadership of safety risks and steps needed to triage them to aid new market launches/scaling
- Work with internal teams and suppliers to define roles and responsibilities regarding the validation effort
- Plan, define, implement, track, and coordinate all activities related to functional safety validation
- Develop and execute project specific validation plan based on ISO 26262, UL 4600, and PAS/ISO 21448 (SOTIF)
- Communicate safety design considerations to internal and external teams as discovered through the validation efforts
- Lead and support cross- functional teams in verification of functional safety activities
- Build, lead and manage the Lucid Functional Safety Validation and Risk Working Groups
- Develop, implement, and assess performance metrics for Functional Safety Validation and Risk Working Group members
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience with analysis or validation of safety related features for ADAS, performance attributes, infotainment, comfort, safety, security, and charging systems
- Experience with MATLAB, Vector and/or Peak CAN based tools
- Experience in FMEAs, Functional Safety management
- Knowledge of ASPICE, APQP, ISO26262, FMVSS and SAE standards and practices
- Experience in V-model system development, verification & validation framework
- Experience in mentoring and guiding team members, fostering their growth and development in the field of system validation
Preferred:
- Strong technical knowledge of automobile engineering principles, systems, and validation methodologies
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, with a focus on driving resolution of complex system issues
Education:
- Bachelor or Masters in the areas of Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields
Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
·California (Bay Area) - $177,000 - $230,000
Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs.
