As Applied Materials continues to grow, we are enhancing our R&D talent and capabilities in multiple disciplines. This is a unique opportunity to technologically lead a multidisciplinary R&D team in Singapore, that is developing cutting edge technologies/solutions for Heterogenous Integration.
The role is that of a Deputy Head of the Advanced Packaging Development Center (APDC) - Heterogenous Integration (HI) Business Unit in Singapore - reporting to the Head of APDC.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops and implements long-range strategy plans (5 to 10 years) for Heterogenous Integration (HI) business unit.
- Ensures that such programs, strategies, and processes address high value problems (HVP) for the HI BU and is aligned with the organization’s direction.
- Directly manage a multi-discipline R&D team (experts in the domain of process integration) to achieve HI BU’s performance metrics. Works closely with lab operations team to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Leads/interfaces with internal and external customers and suppliers on technology and development involving the BUs to help shape future products/roadmap.
- Defines performance metrics and reports against BUs’ specific goals.
- Drive and collaborate closely with cross functional product groups in APDC (Singapore) and broadly with multiple business units in the US, build partnership with eco system partners, research institutes, universities and other Applied R&D centers.
- Site leadership – drive public-private partnerships, collaborations, talent development, community engagement, university engagements, R&D branding and compliance (SGP commits, EHS, etc)
Requirements
- Minimum of Master's in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering or equivalent with PhD preferred
- At least 15 years of experience in semiconductor front-end and packaging integration
- Strong communication skills to be effective in dealing with Business Units, cross-functional teams, internal or external customers/partners
- Proven track record of leadership and team management, with experience leading diverse engineering teams.
- Self-starter, team player and able to work independently with minimal supervision
Functional Knowledge
Demonstrates broad and comprehensive understanding of front-end and back-end integration. Must have domain knowledge and experience working on Hybrid Bonding. Preferable to have some experience working on product development. Experienced with working with lab operations to enhance productivity.
