The Materials Associate Color Developer position is responsible for supporting the Materials development teams and process with color development. This position works with the Fabric, Trim and Print teams. Working cross functionally you'll partner with Merchandising, Design, Product Development, Operations and the PCC’s. You will use your color knowledge and collaboration skills to work with category groups on color processes and help to drive process improvements within the color team. you will be responsible for tracking, follow-up and metrics for color development (lab dips). Additionally, you will anticipate and mitigate color risks, address color achievability issues, advise on colorfastness, and help approve cross-dyes, prints, or any color that needs category team review. Other core responsibilities include color matching across multiple sources and substrates and ensuring on-time commercialization while working closely with cross functional teams and Mills/Vendors. In this role, you will have the opportunity to interact with business teams involved in design, material manufacturing and product integrity and may serve college and professional team sports, as well as other exclusive leagues within the Fanatics business.
Responsibilities
- Manages and tracks all color development (lab dips) with sourcing hubs (PCC’s) to meet brand and/or customer standard requirements. Facilitates and prioritizes work to meet time and action calendar delivery requirements, and ensure on time Buy Ready dates. Works in conjunction with hub office partners to communicate production concerns and presents solutions.
- Creates, organizes, and maintains complete excel files of color palettes for every team, league and sub program. Ensures consistent color standards, both physical and QTX, and integrity on behalf of the brands.
- Color assessments across categories as needed.
- Facilitates color customization efforts when needed to support the business.
- Manages data related to color through PLM system, including lab dip requests. Reviews and presents performance metrics through analysis.
- Manages and maintains Global Color and Seasonal Color Libraries within PLM system including color codes, in conjunction with Operations.
- Works closely with Quality Managers for color analysis of production shades on incoming orders to minimize shading within inventory.
Requirements
- Years of Related Professional Experience: 3+
- Bachelors degree in fashion design or textiles or comparable combination of education and experience
- Must score superior on Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Hue test
- Experience using spectrophotometer
- Must be able to provide technical expertise of fabric and decoration
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate change and improvement in processes
- Must be able to identify issues and analyze relevant data to determine course of action
- Demonstrated ability to generate innovative solutions to work situations
- Professional communication skills (presentation, written, verbal)
- Proven organizational skills
- Must be detail oriented
- Proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong computer skills (Excel)
- Excellent analytical skills
