Overview
Support the strategic transformation of products for multiple Domains, including Security, Channels (Branch Operations and Contact Center) & Investments (NFFG) to a series of cloud-first, well-integrated systems and platforms. Research, evaluate, design, implement, and maintain systems and product solutions, applying expert knowledge of engineering principles. Lead the coordination of activities between multiple disciplines within IT and vendors on both technical and non-technical issues pertaining to computer system hardware and software, network infrastructure, peripheral evaluation, and integration. Considered subject matter expert and a key stakeholder/key contributor on highly complex initiatives and project teams. Conduct complex work assignments under general direction.
Responsibilities
Lead integration of product technologies for multiple on-going projects across the Security, NFFG, Branch Operations, and Contact Center business domains
Maintain a broad understanding of the technology stack and demonstrate a deep mastery in applications aligned to products across Security, NFFG, Branch Operations, and Contact Center
Along with other top-level engineers, influence the technical direction of the Security, Channels, & Investments organization and support NFCU’s broader technology transformation while fostering a culture of continuous learning, sharing, and collaboration
Research, evaluate, recommend, and implement information technology that aligns with business needs and meets objectives
Use holistic knowledge of all products in the information technology ecosystem to plan how new systems will be built and integrated
Provide high-level guidance to assist teams in aligning architecture to business and strategic needs
Collaborate with the Cloud and Platform Engineering Services, Technology Strategy and Architecture, and Enterprise Data and Information Management groups to leverage common software factory based automated delivery, enriched with resilient features for system availability by adapting modern Dev Sec Ops methodology.
Lead and contribute, in a hands-on manner, to our most challenging projects, while influencing multiple projects through strategic guidance, code/design reviews, and mentoring of other developers and architects
Prepare and present functional design specifications and design project process flow
Provide specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs
Review solutions to ensure alignment with customer objectives, organization guidelines/benchmarks and industry best practices
Identify potential problems in design, quality, or operation and initiate corrective action
Maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
Identify opportunities to effectively mitigate risk and improve performance and functionality
Drive system testing including evaluation, verification & validation activities
Bring external perspective and ideas from relevant sources, keep current with technology trends/SaaS, government/policy impacts and industry best practices
Evaluate the performance and trends of assigned services to customers, including defined KPIs and SLAs and ensure that service levels are achieved in line with SLAs and SLOs. Effectively leverage metrics/OKRs to convey the message
Prepare & lead executive presentations and communications with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business language
Contribute to the development of workforce strategy (skills. competencies, team size, span of control, etc) supporting both on premise and cloud solutions
Provide constructive and actionable feedback to Technology Product Owners, Technology Product Managers, vendors, strategic partners, team members, etc. to achieve expected outcomes
Ensure compliance with Navy Federal’s policy and standards, practices and processes
Qualifications
Experience in analyzing, designing, delivering, and maintaining systems including mainframe, distributed, and cloud technologies in a myriad of business areas
Expert communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences, including presentation creation and delivery
Extensive experience with private, public and hybrid cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud, etc.)
Extensive experience in working with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, etc.)
Extensive experience in building and managing common platforms (e.g., Service Now, Pega, Share point Online, Salesforce, etc.)
Extensive experience with Agile software development practices including Scrum, JIRA, Peer Review, Git and CI/CD
Extensive experience with Microsoft Windows and Unix/Linux server operating systems
Extensive experience with modern network enabled relational databases
Expert knowledge of networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, HTTP, etc.) and standard network architectures
Expert knowledge of databases, NoSQL systems, storage and distributed persistence technologies
Expert knowledge of continuous integration and deployment and tools chain (e.g., GIT, Jenkins, Maven, RunDeck, Terraform, Ansible, etc.)
Expert knowledge of discipline engineering principles, practices, and theories, and methods to identify and solve the highest complex problems and perform sophisticated analyses
Expert knowledge of system engineering design methods including requirements analysis and flowdown, specification derivation and interface control documentation
Expert knowledge and understanding of the end-to-end IT process, including architecture, design & engineering, implementation, and operations
Extensive experience in developing scripts or applications to automate systems implementation, configuration, or management
Expert knowledge of project lifecycles and management methodologies
Extensive experience in cloud migration and engineering cloud centric environments
Extensive experience leading systems analysis, design, and architecture efforts
Extensive experience with system architectures in a service oriented and enterprise service business environment
Self-motivated and proactive, able to learn quickly and apply new concepts, tools and applications
Demonstrated ability to solve complex system/integration problems through innovative solutions
Expert troubleshooting skills and ability to identify root causes of issues and provide solutions
Expert problem solving, collaboration, critical thinking, team building, and presentation skills
Expert skill applying innovative approaches to solve technical design issues
Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Desired Qualifications
