What we do:
Lead Software Engineer, Integrated Simulations Systems, will build, integrate, and automate simulation tools and pipelines across Advanced R&D and Engineering teams to help accelerate our aircraft development and entry-into-service.
This position will be required to work on-site 5 days a week.
What you can do:
- Lead simulation team’s technical strategy and engineering effort on building foundation models for aerospace and advanced air mobility use cases
- Lead the development of the simulation engine and tools for advanced air mobility research and development
- Design, develop, and maintain software systems
- Develop and implement software development best practices
- Ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of our software systems
- Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in software development
- Collaborate with engineering teams across the company to help develop a well-architected integrated simulation framework
- Collaborate with R&D teams on a range of critical projects
- Provide subject matter expertise through the complete lifecycle of software features
- Provide subject matter expert-level guidance for all Simulation Systems and programs
- Support maintenance and improvement of software development standards and processes
- Support maintenance of a real-time flight simulation environment
- Support model updates based on flight test data
- Support requirement verification activities in various engineering subject areas
- May require up to 10% of domestic and international travel
- Other duties as assigned
What you can contribute:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, AI robotics, or equivalent required; Master's or PhD preferred
- A minimum of ten (10) years of industry experience within aerospace, autonomous vehicles, robotics, or AI labs (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Experience in building robotics, simulation, and AI systems
- Strong C++, Rust or Python knowledge and ability to architect, develop, and refactor large codebase and complex mix of software tools
- Proficiency in a range of AI robotics simulation tools and 3D engines: CARLA, MuJoCo, ROS, Gazebo, JSBSim (Flight Dynamics), Flight Lab, X-Plane, Omniverse, O3DE, OGRE, Godot, Unreal, etc.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proactive delivery of communication and follow up
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Must have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints
- Proficiency with Excel VLOOKUP, pivot tables, MS Office Suite
You may also be able to contribute:
- Experience working at or with one of the leading AI research labs (Microsoft Research, Google Research, DeepMind Robotics, OpenAI) preferred
