What we do:
The Sr. Manufacturing NPI Engineer will be responsible for manufacturing tooling, verification and validation, and process development. The role will be accountable for the creation of a multitude of standardized processes and procedures within these subject areas while collaborating with the design teams throughout the conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs. The role will be heavily involved in building prototype energy storage systems and supporting the development and transition of manufacturing technologies.
This position will be required to work on-site 5 days a week.
What you can do:
- Design and manufacture fixtures and tooling for new processes
- Conduct supplier visits as needed to complete Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs)
- Support implementation of Manufacturing Execution Software (MES) to support production
- Provide guidance in multi-functional teams to help define product requirements and inspection criteria
- Provide technical training and support to production personnel on new processes, equipment, and technologies
- Use DOE, PFMEA, and other industry-standard tools and techniques to identify and address risks and optimize process parameters actively
- Evaluate designs using Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFM/DFA) principles and develop testing methods to assess quality and functionality
- Oversee and manage external suppliers and contract manufacturers, ensuring cohesive processes
- Collaborate with all engineering teams to develop product requirements, inspection plans, and end-of-line procedures
- May require up to 10% of domestic and international travel
- Other duties as assigned
What you can contribute:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or relevant required; Master's degree preferred
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in engineering (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
- Experience with project management and prototyping
- Experience designing and manufacturing fixtures and tooling
- Proficiency in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFM/DFA) principles
- Ability to develop testing methods to assess quality and functionality
- Ability to write and perform FATs and SATs
- Proficiency in MES systems
- Proficiency in DOE, PFMEA, and other industry-standard tools and techniques
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proactive delivery of communication and follow up
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Must have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints
- Proficiency with Excel VLOOKUP, pivot tables, MS Office Suite
You may also be able to contribute:
- Experience in aviation, automotive, and the mobility space with UAS or UAM preferred
- LEAN/Six Sigma experience and qualifications preferred
- Experience in aircraft or automotive production environment preferred
