We seek an experienced Principal Site Quality Engineer (RCCA) to work directly with our customer sites and installation teams to ensure quality standards are adhered to in all aspects of installations while acting as a catalyst for continuous improvement in our products and systems. This role will interface with suppliers, sub-tiers, engineering, program team, and sourcing to drive high levels of quality and field reliability in critical sub-systems and components. The candidate must be able to understand the application of our products and their use environments to appropriately and strategically apply technical knowledge, tools and methodologies to drive product quality. Applying statistical and reliability methods this position will examine the field data, bot health, subsystem/components defects, and site quality concerns. This position will require both a collaborative nature and ability to influence across organizational lanes at Symbotic, suppliers, and customers.
The Principal Site Quality Enginner is part of the Quality team is part of the Manufacturing organization; which is responsible for driving continuous improvement practices of our systems' performance. Our quality team ensures that the products and processes meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and reliability. Their primary focus is to maintain consistency in the production of robots and automated systems that meet customer requirements and comply with industry standards. The quality team collaborates closely with various departments to ensure that quality is integrated throughout the entire product development and manufacturing lifecycle.
Provide Quality leadership and support to the installation sites, focusing on identification and timely resolution of issues via structured quality methods.
Analyze multiple streams of data related to Symbotic site installations to identify systemic issues hampering installation quality, efficiency, and the company’s ability to scale operations.
Determine top issues to solve, evaluate effectivity of changes deployed.
Statistical analysis of quality data including usage trends, pareto’s of product performance, Weibel analysis, life cycle analysis, hypothesis testing, and statistical modeling.
Lead and drive problem resolution and disseminate status and findings across the organization.
Drive Root Cause and Corrective Action process cross functionally to permanently resolve quality issues.
Employ 8-D based Corrective Action request to deliver efficient and effective root cause analysis and corrective / preventive actions that ensure there is no recurrence.
Assemble and drive cross functional teams appropriate to the facets of various defects identified.
Communicate issues across our operations team and drive closed loop problem resolution.
Utilize Six Sigma and Lean methods to drive quality and process improvements.
Drive data analysis of major performance concerns at sites, such as field return materials (RMA), downtime, suspects, and PDN.
Set up and use dashboards to communicate status and drive partners, suppliers and vendors in the execution of quality system.
Provide leadership to site quality personnel to efficiently execute quality SOP’s to identify and resolve issues.
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline required.
Minimum 12 years of Quality Engineering experience within a regulated manufacturing industry.
Strong technical background in automation and material handling equipment deployment
Experience in all aspects of quality management: quality concepts/tools/methods (FMEA, DOE, MSA, FMEA, PPAP, GRR, 8D, etc.)
Analytical problem-solving skills to determine root causes (8D, A3) and use of statistical analysis tools.
Experience in reliability methods and failure mode analysis (DFMEA, PFMEA)
Familiar with statistical process control software such as SAA, Minitab, and JMP and Mat lab.
Technical experience with CQE, Six Sigma Black Belt preferred, Advanced Excel skills.
Certified or previously certified auditor for ISO 9001, AS9100, etc. preferred.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence others. Able to work effectively with global, cross-functional stakeholders.
Strong process engineering fundamentals with the ability to identify critical control points.
Strong quantitative and analytic skills; capable of translating findings into business actions.
Strong hands-on project management and teamwork skills with demonstrated ability to consistently establish and meet aggressive timelines.
Ability to build and maintain productive cross-functional relationships.
Demonstrated ability to implement creative solutions while working under pressure.
Up to 25% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.
The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
