About the role:
At Apixio we are building a data infrastructure and family of products that help transform the HealthCare industry. Our data scientists and engineering teams are creating smart products that use petabytes of clinical patient data. We need great Site Reliability Engineers to build, deploy, and support the tooling, monitoring, and infrastructure that brings their work to our customers. The Site Reliability Engineering team maintains our AWS footprint via infrastructure as code, are super security minded, engage the engineering team to create highly reliable applications, and develop tooling in support of our data scientists. They strive to automate everything. Our operations team shares an on-call rotation backed by our engineering teams.
Who you are:
- As an experienced build/release engineer, you will collaborate with team members and other groups to enhance Apixio’s CI/CD pipeline, mature release processes, and enable better code reliability.
- You will have a strong focus on automating tasks and enabling developer velocity.
- Prior experience within the medical or insurance industries is not required.
- A desire to have a positive impact on people’s lives is a must.
What Knowledge, Skills & Abilities you bring to the table:
- Our team uses the following tools and technologies; Kubernetes (AWS EKS), CircleCI, Jenkins, GitHub, Vault, Terraform, Consul, AWS RDS (MySQL, Postgres), Cassandra, Redis, FluentD, Apache/Django/Flask, Kafka, Spark, FluentD, Graylog, Datadog, and others. The applications we support are written in Scala, Java, and Python.
- A successful candidate will have experience in a subset of these or related technologies and have a desire to learn new things and to share their experience with others.
- You should have a solid understanding of CI/CD technologies and best practices within a security related compliance framework (e.g. SOC2, HiTrust, PCI-DSS, CCPA, GDPR).
After 3 months you will have accomplished:
After getting familiarized with Apixio’s products and infrastructure, you’ll engage with a mix of project work and day-to-day operations. This will include assisting in maturing our CI/CD pipelines, enhancing our testing frameworks, and working with engineers to improve code coverage and build performance.
By the time you have reached your one year anniversary you will have accomplished one or more of the following:
- Further automated the build/release processes to remove manual validation and gating to simplify audit-ability, increase deployment success, and developer velocity.
- Helped migrate applications to new AWS organizational structure.
- Refined our monitoring, logging, and alerting infrastructure to speed up incident triage and provide better post-incident analysis.
- Provide tooling to ensure high levels of resource utilization in order to reduce spend through idle and unused AWS resources
